Workshop Overview
Managers that create engaged workplaces know how to listen to their employees and improve business results by putting what they learned through listening into action. Great listening skills are essential to building morale, identifying innovative ideas, problem solving, conflict management, and creating service-focused workplaces. Listening is much more than just hearing someone. It is about having the skills and ability to attach meaning to what someone says. The major barrier to good listening is the lack of awareness and skills to apply the 5 types of listening at work.
Utilizing a self-assessment tool called the Personal Listening 2.0 Profile, participants will learn about five (5) different listening styles, their listening strengths and weaknesses, and strategies to effectively apply the appropriate listening to style to a specific type of situation. Research shows that listening is the primary means of how we take in information...attributing to 40% of communication. When was the last time you learned how to listen more effectively? In this workshop, participants will learn to: - Recognize the importance of developing good listening skills by reflecting on past listening experiences.
- Discover the five different listening approaches used in communication and the characteristics of each approach.
- Discover their most natural listening approaches.
- Learn when to use each of the 5 listening styles to be more effective.
- Practices using all 5 listening approaches so they can use them back on the job.
