Stop the Tax on Golf in California

As we begin 2009, a proposal looms in Sacramento that for the first time will tax playing golf in California. This unjust golf tax proposal is a real threat and will become law unless YOU act now!

Targeting Golf is Unfair: The tax proposal singles out golf for taxation when other sports and recreational activities -skiing, bowling, tennis, etc.-are not being similarly taxed. While the state should not tax any recreational activity, targeting one sport is simply unfair.

A Broad-based Tax Approach is more equitable. A tax that uniquely penalizes California golfers and damages an industry important to California's tourist and recreational economy is wrong.

Numerous golfers are seniors living on fixed income and would be most affected by this unfair tax. Seniors, many of who play golf as their primary method of exercise and enjoyment, would be sliced right out of the game due to the increased costs of playing a round.
