Through facilitation we help clients strengthen their business results. The aim of this newsletter is to: share facilitation tips so we can all continue to strengthen our skills; to share details about related events.

Thank you to Natalie Jenkins, VP Sales, Innova Training and Consulting in the U.S. who sends a great tip to share with you in this issue. If you have a tip to share please send it by July 31 for the next issue.

Write Goals and Objectives in Past Tense
When a group sees their objectives written in past tense, as if they have already been accomplished, it helps members to commit to deliver the necessary action items.

A good way to start the conversation is to ask: At the end of this project we will have ....? Let the group complete the sentence. Here are some examples: At the end of this project we will have cannibalized a product line that represents 30% of our revenue. At the end of this project we will have opened up three new customer distribution channels. At the end of this project we will have converted to environmentally friendly packaging. At the end of this project we will have financed the acquistion with existing cash flow. Be sure to keep asking the question until the group cannot think of any more objectives as it is highly likely there will be multiple objectives. Try this technique next time you are working on developing goals and objectives. It can work wonders, and that is what facilitators do!

If you have a tip to share please email it by July 31st to make the August newsletter edition.

Good thinking to you,
