Greetings!
I have designed this newsletter to provide you with
quick tips and ideas to spark your thinking about
innovation. Share it with your team. Perhaps 5
minutes on your next meeting agenda to discuss one
of the ideas and how you might use it will help.
| Nokia Makes Dramatic Shift |
 |
|
Nokia, the largest mobile phone maker in the world
has changed the name of this product as reported in
the Sacramento Bee on May 28. Mobile phones are now
referred to as "multi-media computers" - a single
remote control for your electronic life. This move
opens up a whole new world of possibility. An
important step in innovating is being wide open with
words. What words are you using to describe your
products and services? What words could you be using
that would help you uncover more potential?

| Seal the Deal - Make Your Year |
 |
|
There are 6 months left to make 2006 goals. Now is
an excellent time to schedule a breakthrough meeting
with your team. The objective is to end up with
fresh new ideas to implement that will enable you to
exceed your goals. Lateral thinking tools work
perfectly for this business challenge.
|
| Which business thinkers are in and which are out? Can you guess? |
 |
|
Who is the most influential living management
thinker? That was the simple question that inspired
the original Thinkers 50 in 2001.
The Thinkers 50 2005 provides a completely new
ranking. It is the definitive bi-annual
guide to which thinkers and ideas are in - and which
have been consigned to business history. Whose books
are you going to be reading this summer?

Define Innovation |
|
|
|
Do you have an operational definition of innovation?
If not,
perhaps it would help your group to be more
innovative if you did. An operational definition
helps create alignment. Here is my operational
definition: "Innovation: Implementing ideas that
customers and users value enough to actively
support." Share it with your team as a starting
point to work towards crafting your own operational
definition. Be sure to share your results with me.
