  • Inspiring Words from David Millen

The Executive Director of CAYFO (Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa) visits a lot of schools as he works to support children in the community. David Millen is brimming with inspiring ideas that ALL of us can use...to prevent bullying and make the whole world a more caring place!

    Personal Reflection

This year, Kid-Safe Productions visited a record 74 schools in Ontario and presented over 125 plays and workshops.

We visited all kinds of schools. Inner-city schools and schools in very affluent neighborhoods. Small, close-knit schools and sprawling, densely-populated ones. Of course, the schools reflected the colourful diversity of Ontario itself, with a rich tapestry of children from all backgrounds.

Yet for all their differences, all the schools shared something very important...a willingness to listen and learn...and a desire to become stronger, safer communities.

In addition to the plays, we have enjoyed developing and introducing our newest service to schools: the very well-received drama/empathy workshops for junior and intermediate students. These workshops have been going so well we will continue to offer them next season, to help you take a whole school approach to counter the effects of bullying.

At Kid-Safe, we appreciate the warm welcome we've received at Ontario schools this year, and salute you for all the progress you've made to reduce bullying and victimization.
