March 2012
Dear EFD Friends,

February ended with the success of  two Coastal Impacts Technology Program (CITP)  workshops in Kingsville,TX. The workshops identified technology and research needs to reduce the impact of energy production in the 18 coastal counties of Texas with the focus on air emissions and site restoration. Visit the
EFD website to learn more about these workshops and their results.

We hope you enjoy our March newsletter with the highlight on the recent "Disappearing Roads" article published by RigZone. Just click the image below to read more.  Also, mark your calendars for upcoming events.

Thank you for your support as we continue to accomplish  great strides and successes in our program through 2012.

TCAT
Alliance Member
The Texas Center for Applied Technology (TCAT) is a premier research agency within the Texas A&M University System and a proud member of  EFD. Through their research on the Eagle Ford, TCAT has developed a new method for estimating equipment emissions by using activity data and tiered engine data rather than the old USEPA AP-42 standards.  This new method is acceptable by regulators and demonstrates that emissions are typically overestimated by traditional modeling techniques. RigZone's Barbara Saunders is featuring a series articles for the EFD Program under Eco-Drilling.

The EFD program, funded by federal, state and foreign government agencies, industry and environmental organizations, provides unbiased science to policy makers and identifies, develops and tests new technologies, processes and systems to reduce the environmental footprint associated with oil and gas activities, from well site selection through natural gas compression. The program, approximately $4 million per year, is engaged in research and technology transfer activities from the Western Slope of the Rockies to the Ukraine, and from the North Slope of Alaska to Columbia (South America). Research includes land, air and water issues, as well as public perception investigations. The program was honored with the Chairman's Stewards Award for Environmental Partnership at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
