Fall Program Preview --
District Date Changes & Food
| July and August, 2012
|
We have changed the dates of the Fall Program Previews to better accommodate the new school start schedule. Please check your district date listed below. What has not changed is the great Scouting information you will receive! We also recognize that as a volunteer leader, your time is very precious. To serve you better, we have combined three annual event briefings into one evening. Your district Fall Program Preview will now include School Night Briefing, Popcorn Sales Briefing and Family FOS Briefing all into one. These briefings combined with information about all the exciting fall programs like Akala Cubs and the Boy Scout Survival Camporee at Fort Rucker will make this an evening you won't want to miss.
But wait, there's more! Arrive by 6:00pm and dinner is on us. Please register for dinner by email to Debbie.Fowler@scouting.org.
So, how are we going to fit all this into one evening and still have you out the door at a reasonable time? Don't know yet, but I reckon that some of the best minds in the council are figgerin' that out.

| July and August, 2012
|
A boy who joins as a Tiger Cub this fall could be a Scout for the next 10 years. 90% of all Boy Scouts are former Cub Scouts. We have a great Scouting legacy. Yet, many of our Cubs Scout will drop out after only a year or two. These boys miss out on the benefits of best youth program in America for developing leadership, family values and personal responsibility. As parents and leaders what can we do? The National BSA has chosen the Alabama-Florida Council as one of 20 councils across the county to partner on a three year Cub Scout Retention Project. Through this program we will learn and implement the 'Best Practices' that drive Cub Scout retention. Do you know what the top six 'Best Practices' are? Come to your district Fall Program Preview and 'Be Prepared' to answer this question during the gathering activity and earn a BSA 100th Anniversary Year of Celebration patch.
