A Report from the Executive Director

Congratulations, District Showcase Winners!

Congratulations to Clark, LaPorte, and Vermillion County Districts for their outstanding District Showcase applications and accomplishments. IASWCD and agency partner staff will visit the Districts to learn more about their winning projects this fall. Also, award winners receive one complimentary registration apiece to the 2013 Annual Conference for Indiana SWCDs, an exhibition table at Conference to set up a display and materials to showcase their projects, and special recognition at the Conference's Awards Banquet.

There are so many wonderful and inspiring projects going around the state. Thank you to all that applied!

Join us Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. for the 2012 River Friendly Farmer Award Ceremony

Craig Schneider (center) was honored as a 2009 "River Friendly Farmer" by Lt. Governor Becky Skillman and Indiana Farm Bureau President Don Villwock

We will honor our 55 award recipients in a statewide ceremony at the
Indiana State Fair. The event will be held at the 4-H
Exhibit Hall 2nd Floor Auditorium. Lt. Governor Becky Skillman will join us, along with Indiana Farm Bureau President Don Villwock, USDA NRCS State Conservationist Jane Hardisty, our host this year, Megan Grebner, Brownfield Radio Network, and special guest, "President Abraham Lincoln" who will help us celebrate the 150th anniversary of the USDA. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate the conservation achievements these farmers contribute to our soil and water health. We will complete the ceremony with a reception at 2 p.m.

Thank You, Districts!

Thanks to the 81 Districts who have paid their 2012 dues. View this list of SWCDs on our website.

Have a good day,
Jennifer

"A Function-Based Framework for Stream Assessment and Restoration Projects" lays out a framework for approaching stream assessment and restoration projects that focuses on understanding the suite of stream functions at a site in the context of what is happening in the watershed.
