Are you thinking of starting a small business?  It could be in your home, in a commercial storefront, or in partnership with someone else.  The opportunities for success are limitless and the amount of details involved in successfully getting started can feel the same.  If you're thinking about starting a business, would like to know more about the process, or are just getting started, this training is for you.  Topics covered will include: Business Startup Challenges, Writing a Business Plan, Business Insurance Basics, Accounting 101, Identifying Your Target Audience, Identifying Your Competitors, and more!

Small Business Financing & Refinancing

Most businesses require some type of financing to start up and grow operations.  This session will focus on methods of financing available to entrepreneurs and small businesses including SBA financing options.  Details on how to secure long term, below market, fixed rate financing for your business will also be presented.

Pricing Your Product/Service For Profit

Pricing your product or service is one of the most critical tasks that you will undertake as a small business owner/manager.  It will spell the difference between success and failure.  In this workshop, we will review the factors to be considered when determining the final price of your product or service and learn the basic strategies in selecting the right price by utilizing basic math formulas.

Small Business HR Law
April 10 - 11:45-1pm - ATCC room 209

Attorney Tom Jacobson, who is certified as a Labor and Employment Law Specialist by the Minnesota Bar Association, will give an overview of the top ten things every small business owner should know about workplace law.

This session will focus on easy tips and tricks for improving customer service in your business.  You will also learn about measurement tools and assessments that you can use to gather data on success levels of your business's customer service efforts.

Overcoming Generational Challenges in the Workforce
May 1 - 10:00am-1pm - ATCC room 209

Understanding generational differences and how they can effect your business is an important part of planning for organizational success.  The information that people hear and understand (both employees and customers) can be very different based upon the generation that they belong to.  This interactive session will give attendees a better understanding of generational differences and how to overcome them for organizational success.
