Greetings!
The Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will hold its monthly Committee Meetings and Board Meeting, as well as a Public Hearing and a Board Retreat, on August 14-15, 2012, as shown below.
All meetings are held in the Claiborne Building, 1201 North Third Street, Baton Rouge 70802. The Retreat will be held in the Arkansas Room (Room 1-190), while the other meetings will be in the Louisiana Purchase Room (Room 1-100).
All meetings may be convened up to 30 minutes prior to the posted schedule time to maintain an orderly flow of business from one meeting to the next. Meeting agendas and background information can be reviewed here. Agenda items of particular local interest are highlighted below.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 14 PUBLIC HEARING, COMMITTEE MEETINGS

- 8(g) Public Hearing - 8:45 a.m.
- Allocation of 8(g) funds for 2013-2014
- Academic Goals and Instructional Improvement Committee - 9 a.m.
- Revisions to Bulletin 118, Statewide Assessment Standards and Practices, to reflect new, revised and edited policy guidelines for Louisiana's statewide assessment programs
- Revisions to Bulletin 119, Louisiana School Transportation Specifications and Procedures, to ensure that the school bus transportation programs are implemented according to state law
- School Innovation and Turnaround Committee - 9:30 a.m.
- Common charter application to be used by local school boards, as required by Act 2
- Revisions to Bulletin 126, Charter Schools, to streamline and standardize the charter applications and evaluations process for local school boards
- Revisions to Bulletin 111, The LA School, District, and State Accountability System and Bulletin 129, The Recovery School District, related to the return of RSD schools and the accountability scale approved by the board in June 2012
- Process to return schools that have been placed in the RSD to their local districts
- Educator Effectiveness Committee - 10:15 a.m.
- Administration and Finance Committee - 11 a.m.
- 2012-2013 Budget for the Recovery School District
- Board Retreat - 3 p.m.
- Presentation of the LDE's strategic plan aligned with Louisiana Believes
