Greetings!
The Orleans Parish School Board has released Call for Quality Schools, its 2012 Request for Proposals (RFP) from operators interested in opening one or more Type 1 charter schools beginning in the 2013-2014 school year. The RFP can be accessed here.
Some key points for the RFP include the following:
- RFP was developed in collaboration with the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA)
- OPSB will distribute template documents for use in preparing applications
- Applications will only be accepted via upload to the Review Room online application submission platform listed in the RFP
- OPSB will conduct orientation session "webinars" for prospective applicants during the week of May 28, dates and times TBA
- Mandatory Letters of Intent and Eligibility Packets must be submitted via upload by noon, June 18
- Complete proposals must be submitted by noon, August 1
- Applicants will have opportunities to respond to NACSA's draft and final evaluations of their proposals prior to OPSB action
- OPSB action on proposals is scheduled for December 18, 2012
- OPSB does not anticipate having any facilities available for the use of new Type 1 charters; accordingly, applicants must provide their own facilities
