- Parents will submit one application for each child, not one for each school
- This process applies to both RSD direct-run and charter schools only
- The process does not apply for OPSB direct-run or charters, Type 2 BESE charters, or non-public schools
- The new Parents' Guide to Public Schools will be released soon with updated program information and indicating which schools use the OneApp process
- All parents for an RSD school will need to submit an application even if a letter of intent has already been submitted to the current school
- Applications will contain no spaces to indicate special needs (disabilities or language) in order to prevent discrimination in selection
- This info will be needed only after assignment offer is issued
- Parents who want to apply to new RSD schools can list up to 8 requested schools in rank order per child
- Parents can complete a special form if they want all siblings to attend the same school together
- Priorities are given for certain students
- Siblings of students already in the requested schools
- Students in closing schools
- Students in defined catchment areas (K-8 only and not HS)
- All applications will be considered at the same time
- No "first-come first-served"
- As long as an application is submitted on time, it does not matter when it is submitted
- Students will receive one match or offer to attend for their highest choice school having available seats
- No risk - parent could decide instead for student to stay at current school
- Because pre-kindergarten is limited and not mandated, there is no guarantee that all pre-K applicants will be offered seats
