"Walking in a Kesem wonderland..."

Our holiday-themed camper reunion!

On Saturday, December 11, campers and counselors came together for a fun and festive holiday-themed reunion! We channeled our creativity and made gingerbread houses, paper snowflakes, and holiday cards. We have some very artistic campers!

We also played Ride That Reindeer, a holiday-themed version of a Camp Kesem favorite--Ride That Pony--as well as Giants, Wizards, and Elves!

We had a great time singing and playing some of our most-loved songs and games from camp, and we even learned some new ones that we can't wait to show everyone this summer!

The reunion was a great success and a great way to get into the holiday spirit!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM CAMP KESEM GW!

Meet Emily, AKA Yoda

CKGW: Where did your name "Yoda" come from?

Y: I was actually lost on the Mount Vernon campus in October of last year trying to find Hand Chapel--I was on my way to my first CKGW reunion and I was SO nervous. In all of my confusion, I remembered that I had to have a camp name by the time I got there, and Yoda just...came to me! I guess you could say I used the force.

CKGW: What was your favorite part of Camp Kesem this year?

Y: Leading the Nature and Adventure rotation was so much fun, and definitely my favorite part of camp! I particularly liked nature bingo. You can't go wrong with animal stickers!

CKGW: Favorite camp song?

Y: A new one: "Get Loose!" I learned it at the National Conference in October and I've been singing it nonstop ever since. IT STARTED WITH YO FEET!

CKGW: Would you rather be born with an elephant trunk or with a giraffe neck?

Y: This is a tough one, but I'm going to go with the elephant trunk. It would be an extremely useful thing to have. Think of all of the possibilities! I would be a multitasking pro. My floating head picture (see above!) would be even funnier...

CKGW: If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?

Y: I would sneak into the White House! Who wouldn't want to hang out in Barack's house? I'm particularly curious to see what kind of cereal he has stocked in his pantry. I have a feeling that he's a Lucky Charms kind of guy.

CKGW: What's your favorite ice cream flavor and why?

Y: Mint chocolate chip...because it's green, like Yoda!

CKGW: If you had to pick one color of nail polish to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Y: Come on, this question is too hard! You know I'm a nail polish aficionado. But if I HAVE to choose, it would be turquoise. I own more than a few bottles...please, someone stop me from buying more...I admit that I have a nail polish addiction.

Operation Zambaldi: A Great Success!

zambali official

We are proud to announce that our Operation Zambaldi campaign was wildly successful! In the end, we raised approximately $5,700-- far surpassing our goal of $5,000! On November 12th, counselors, friends, and even some campers turned out to watch Zamboni shave her head! It was a truly magical event and we are thankful for everyone who took part!
