With the excitement of the new season, the Sharks Foundation is ready with our calendar of events and fundraisers. There are the same fan favorites as well as some newly added items that will hopefully be both fun and successful.

Opening Night Mystery Pucks,
a Harley, and Beer
On Opening Night, Saturday, Oct. 8 (vs. Phoenix), the Sharks Foundation will have several fundraisers to benefit local youth and families in the Bay Area.
Sharks Street Rally Beer will sell for $5. The Harley Davidson for raffle will be on display with raffle tickets selling for $25. Opening Night Mystery Pucks will be for sale inside. And our regular in-game auction will take place at the Sharks Foundation Booth. Please visit here for further details.

Harley Davidson Raffle
To help raise funds for Bay Area After School All-Stars and the Sharks Foundation, a brand new Harley Davidson Motorcycle will be raffled with tickets selling for $25 each.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at Sharks home games on Saturday, Oct. 8 (vs. Phoenix), Saturday, Oct. 15 (vs. St. Louis), and Monday, Oct.17 (vs. Anaheim).

Donate Now
The Sharks Foundation raises money to help youth in Santa Clara County. Last year was a great success with nearly $400,000 going to under-served youth in our community.

Donate a Book, Meet a Sharks Player
On October 12, Comerica Bank will host a Reading Is Cool book drive as the program's presenting sponsor..
The drive collecting children's books and cash donations will take place at Comerica Bank's Los Gatos Banking Center (444 N. Santa Cruz Ave, Los Gatos 95030). From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, fans who donate a book and/or make a monetary donation to Reading Is Cool presented by Comerica Bank will have the opportunity to meet San Jose Sharks defenseman Jason Demers.

Golf Tournament Raises More Than $100K
The 2011 Sharks Foundation Golf Classic presented by Silver Creek Sportsplex raised over $100,000, a record for the event.
Nearly 300 people including Sharks players, coaches, staff, and participants in the tournament, helped the event be one of the most successful Sharks Foundation events ever.

Via Services Site Visit
Recently, the Sharks Foundation visited Via Services to catch up with the non-profit and observe use of the new equipment that was purchased with their 2010-11 grant that was awarded to them. Read about the visit here.

Bring Me A Book Visit
Encouraging early audible reading skills is one of 2010-11 grant recipient Bring Me A Book's strategies. The Sharks Foundation visited an elementary school where a bookcase library had been donated and the teacher showed off some of the reading aloud strategies that are taught to parents as they read to their children. Pathways Hospice Visit
The Sharks Foundation followed up with 2010-11 Grant Recipient Pathways, a foundation that provides home health, hospice and private duty. Read about the visit here.

Since it's inception in 1994, the Sharks Foundation has given more than $5.2 million to more than 100 non-profit organizations in Santa Clara County. During the 2010-11 season, the Sharks Foundation and its supporters have:
- Donated $272,121 to 11 non-profit organizations in Santa Clara County impacting nearly 25,000 lives.
- Helped 22,000+ students learn about the importance of reading.
- Collected 15+ barrels of books and $2,923 for our literacy program.
- Collected 3,663 lbs. of food and $4,516 for Second Harvest Food Bank.
- Collected $15,000+ worth of toys and $15,689 for Toys for Tots.
- Collected 2,240+ pounds of clothes/blankets and $3,352 to give to Sacred Heart, impacting over 1,000 people.
- Collected 303 total red cells, 57 new donors registered with the National Marrow Donor Program and Donate Life California received 31 donor registrations potentially impacting more than 1,000 people.
- Through "Hockey for Huggies" 19,000 diapers were collected through direct and monetary donations.
- Donated $31,873 to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation through the "Favorite Things" basket auction.
- Donated $25,064 to the Red Cross' Japan Relief Efforts.
- Donated $5,000 to the Bill Wilson Center.
- Donated $8,500 to local youth hockey teams.
