Greetings!
Welcome to Community Impact, the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation's new e-newsletter. Our mission is inspiring and encouraging charitable giving in northeastern Wisconsin by connecting people who care with solutions that strengthen the community.
One way that we are working to strengthen the community is by participating in the Leading Indicators for Excellence project (LIFE Study) that is currently taking place in the greater Green Bay area. We are leading and sponsoring the study along with the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and the Brown County United Way. The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay Center for Public Affairs and the St. Norbert College Survey Center are conducting the study. Similar studies are also taking place in the Fox Valley and Oshkosh areas so that we can have an overall understanding of the entire region.
The purpose of the study is to understand the needs in the greater Green Bay area, as well as develop a clear understanding of the overall quality of life here in Brown County. The regional segment of the Study will help us see where there are similar issues and opportunities. Important indicators for each sector of quality of life will also be identified to help donors, service providers, and community leaders measure impact of initiatives and strategies to address improvements. Once the study is complete, it will provide opportunities for collaboration among funders and providers.
This LIFE Study is an initiative for the non-profit, for-profit, and government sectors of our community. All sectors will be able to partner together and allocate resources for quality of life improvements. You, our donors, are creating community impacts with your giving and this Study will offer you new tools to support your philanthropic passions. The LIFE Study will also be helpful to non-profits for grant writing.
The LIFE Study will provide us with the most comprehensive view that has ever been taken of the Brown County area. The report will be released after Labor Day 2011. You will be kept apprised through our GGBCF website and future e-newsletters.
I hope you find the Community Impact e-newsletter helpful and informative. The purpose of our newsletter is to keep you up-to-date about the on-goings of the Community Foundation and the philanthropic world. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to others using the link at the bottom of this page.
If you have questions about the e-newsletter or if you have an interesting story idea, please send an email to ggbcf@ggbcf.org or email me at davidpamperin@ggbcf.org.
Best wishes this holiday season. David L. Pamperin GGBCF President & CEO |

| Community Foundation Awards Over $108,000 to 32 Local Non-Profit & School Programs | | |
The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation has awarded 32 grants to local non-profit and school programs serving a variety of individuals including youth, disabled, elderly and homeless individuals. The grants were awarded through the Fund for Greater Green Bay, a collection of field of interest and unrestricted funds of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and in partnership with generous donors who have funds within the Community Foundation.
Field of Interest Funds are established to support particular interest areas, specific program initiatives, and causes or geographic areas. Unrestricted Funds are flexible funds offered through the Community Foundation that respond to the current needs of people in Brown, Kewaunee and Oconto Counties. These funds support programs in any non-profit sector, including arts and culture, education and learning, the environment, health, human services, and neighborhoods and community.

| Basic Needs Fund Giving Partnership | | |
New Matching Program & Spring 2011 Grant Details
The Basic Needs Giving Partnership addresses the root causes of poverty in the region. The partnership brings together charitable resources from the U.S. Venture Open Fund for Basic Needs within the Community Foundation, the J.J. Keller Foundation and other partner donors.
New Matching Program
A new matching program has been created for the 2011 U.S. Venture Open, scheduled for August 2011. U.S. Venture will match gifts to the U.S. Venture Basic Needs Greater Green Bay Community Foundation Fund and the J.J. Keller Foundation will match the Basic Needs Fund grants budget for 2012.
A $5,000 contribution is matched 50 cents on the dollar by U.S. Venture, for a total of a $2,500 match. The investment and match total $7,500.
A typical $5,000 endowment grants 5% (or $250) for Community Basic Needs. With U.S. Venture's $2,500 match on your $5,000 contribution, this unique endowment collaboration distributes a $750 grant + a match of $750 from the J.J. Keller Foundation, totaling a $1,500 grant. The principal endowment is preserved for future Basic Needs Giving Partnership. The 2010 U.S. Venture Open and its giving partners contributed almost $750,000 this year to the Basic Needs Giving partnership endowment fund for grant funding.
Grants
For Spring 2011, we are only accepting applications for collaborative grants. We are not accepting applications from single organizations.
We are offering three different granting opportunities for non-profits: 1) Planning Grants for Collaborative Projects in Brown, Kewaunee, and/or Oconto Counties (around $10,000 for 6 months to one year) 2) Single or Multi-year Collaborative Project Grants in Brown, Kewaunee, and/or Oconto Counties (up to $100,000 per year for up to 3 years) 3) Regional Collaborative Project Grants that incorporate more than one service area of the three participating community foundations (Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and/or the Oshkosh Community Foundation)

| Community Foundation Creates Online Donation Access for General Public | |
GGBCF has launched a new service on its website called Community Snapshots: Profiles of Causes that Matter. This addition to the website allows the general public to search for and donate directly to funds supporting non-profits in the greater Green Bay area.
The new webpage features snapshots of participating non-profits in the greater Green Bay area. Non-profits supply the information for their snapshot on our website, which includes their mission statement, background, funding purposes and their targeted outcome for raising money. Non-profits can link directly from their website to a personalized webpage on the Community Foundation website. This direct link allows individuals to make quick, easy, and safe credit card donations.
Knowing that all generations are making online donations, and these individuals want easy and safe access to make donations, the Community Foundation created a one-stop-shop on our website at www.ggbcf.org for citizens in the greater Green Bay area to research non-profits and donate directly to causes that matter. You can help us by letting your friends know they can make a difference by making online donations to causes that matter in our community.

National Award for The Hidden Homeless Documentary | |
On November 8th, the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY) awarded The Hidden Homeless, a 30 minute documentary on homeless teens, an Outstanding Media Presentation Award at their national convention in Houston. The documentary was partially funded by the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation through the Funds for Greater Green Bay. The documentary presents the voices of four homeless teens: Savannah in Green Bay, Amber in Milwaukee, Scott in Manistique, MI and Todd in Escanaba, MI. The program features the stories of these four youth who reveal their hopes and dreams for the future and talk about people and agencies that helped them. Agency people discuss the services that helped the four youth address homelessness and how they were helped to move on to a productive and rewarding life. |
