Stained Glass Repair at Saint Clement
You may have noticed that one of the stained glass windows above the baptismal font is missing. This window was deteriorating and is currently being restored. At an age of nearly 100 years old, almost all of our windows are in need of restoration -- a need that will have to be addressed in the coming years.
Additionally, the exterior glass protective covers on all of the upper baptistry windows are greatly worn and will be replaced over the coming weeks. The replacement covers will allow better air flow between the exterior cover and the interior stained glass, while also allowing more light to enter the windows.
The estimated cost is $42,000. This project is being financed through the Community of Shepherds fund -- a one of a kind parish initiative to address ongoing capital improvements. For more information on the Community of Shepherds, contact Kim Carter, Director of Parish Operations. |
Stories of Stewards
As part of our ongoing engagement process, we have come to realize the importance of parishioners sharing their personal stories of how they have connected with Saint Clement as an important factor in their lives. As a feature twice a month, we will share the stories and reflections of our engaged parishioners who are living a stewardship life of prayer, service, and giving. This week we hear from Meaghan Schneider.

"My spiritual want ad reads something like this: 'Married Catholic Female seeks God to hear occasional bedtime prayers, semi-annual requests for intercession, and to establish a hotline to Saint Anthony for daily help with lost things.' I think God would find my want ad wanting.
My family isn't recognized as part of any weekend Mass crowd; we are not a '9:30 family' or an '11:15 family.' Those monikers make me smile, and maybe make me yearn a little to be known by my Sunday schedule.
Perhaps I don't show my commitment to my church in Mass as often as I should, but I try in earnest to carry out the Catholic mission by my acts of charity. In my experience, charity means fundraising and outreach. My stewardship to Saint Clement Parish -- Anchor Ball and Clement Moms -- is admittedly more an active mission than a spiritually engaged one. True, I offer more of my time to my church than thoughtful prayer, and I tend to act more often than reflect. I recognize my spiritual shortcomings but I don't discount the value of my stewardship. As a mom to two young kids, Clement Moms is a natural act of stewardship for me, and an easy route for outreach. Each of the Saint Clement 'moms' is a vine of faith, extending the Catholic mission to their children and their families.
Anchor Ball puts the 'fun' back in fundraising, all the while building the Saint Clement community and generating capital to operate the parish and school. If planning a party for the Saint Clement family makes me a steward, then chairing Anchor Ball is serving God with gusto. Celebrating the Catholic mission really shouldn't be that much fun.
My commitment to give to Saint Clement Parish -- my time, and, if I have any skill for party planning, my talent -- is a gift that makes me rich: rich in friendships, rich in community, and rich in opportunities to grow spiritually and become a more engaged parishioner. Maybe the time, talent and treasure I give Saint Clement Parish leaves space within me for faith to fill. Maybe God answered my unspoken spiritual want ad, after all."
