Easter at Saint Clement: A Letter from our Pastor

Exult,
let them exult, the hosts of heaven, exult,

let the Angel ministers of God exult,

let the trumpet of salvation sound aloud our mighty King's triumph!

Be glad,
let earth be glad, as glory floods her,

ablaze with light from her eternal King,

let all corners of the earth be glad,

knowing an end to gloom and darkness.

Rejoice,
let Mother Church also rejoice,

arrayed with the lightning of his glory,

let this holy building shake with joy,

filled with the mighty voices of the peoples.

(The beginning of The Easter Proclamation in the

Third Edition of The Roman Missal)

Dear Saint Clement Parishioners,

Exult! Be glad! Rejoice! This is the Easter urging to heaven and earth and people. But why rejoice when evidence seems to be against it? Do we exult because Jesus escaped the tomb? Are we glad because we have made it through the challenges of Holy Week, especially Good Friday?

We exult because the tomb is not the end. We are glad because love has been shown. We rejoice because faith has saved us and the answer to our prayer is God.

Exult! Be glad! Rejoice! What happens to us happens to Jesus. Life. Death. Resurrection. What happens for Jesus happens to us. Life. Death. Resurrection.

Exult! Be glad! Rejoice! Remember that you are remembered from all time, for all time.

Exult! Be glad! Rejoice!

I pray that we might grow ever deeper in relationship with God and with each other. I pray that our faith may deepen and our service to one another expand. I pray that gratitude will fill our hearts and motivate our giving for the good of others. Let us exult with all who have gone before us and all heavenly powers. Let us be glad with all of creation. Let us rejoice and make our parish shake with joy and be filled with mighty voices!

May every Easter Blessing be upon you and all whom you cherish.

In Christ the Risen One,
Rev. Kenneth Simpson
Pastor
