The Night Ministry Thanks You!

Night Ministry

We recently received a letter of gratitude from The Night Ministry, thanking our parishioners for their generosity through our Advent Jesse Tree. We donated 31 K-Mart, two VISA, and 17 Target gift cards valued at $1,300! President of The Night Ministry, Paul W. Hamann, writes, "Your thoughtfulness helps us to enhance our work of offering shelter, health services, counseling, food, and clothing to those in the vulnerable communities of Chicago."

The letter continues: "For 35 years, we have been committed to providing health, housing, and support services to some of Chicago's most vulnerable and underserved populations. It is estimated that 643,000 individuals are homeless in the United States on any given night (National Alliance to End Homelessness, 2011)." The Night Ministry provides services for homeless adults and youth, and also continues to reach out to high-need neighborhoods in Chicago six nights per week through their 38-foot Mobile Health Outreach Bus, providing vital health services, hospitality, and outreach. By meeting individuals where they dwell, they are able to create a consistent presence in their communities, and foster the trusting relationship necessary for them to take the next step in achieving healthier lifestyles.

Each spring, Saint Clement holds a parish-wide hygiene products drive for the Night Ministry. Donations of travel and sample-size toiletries are taken at the parish church and school, and children taking part in Service Day put together hygiene kits as part of their service at the school. Kits are in turn distributed from the Night Ministry--for the needy who come to the Health Outreach Bus, on the street by the Youth Outreach Team, and from their Open Door Youth Shelters. For more information on The Night Ministry, visit their website or call 773-784-9000.

Save the Date for the 7th annual Clement Service Day on Saturday, April 28!  Join over 350 parishioners as we serve at a number of social service organizations throughout the city, such as homeless shelters, childcare centers, soup kitchens, and senior homes.

Anchor Ball, Saint Clement Parish's only annual fundraiser, will be held Saturday, March 10 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago. Each year a program book is created for advertisers, school families, parish organizations and parishioners to place advertisements, either to thank a staff member, promote their business, or simply congratulate the parish on yet another excellent event.

Both Business Ads and Friends & Family Ads are due February 1 and can be ordered online. For further information, including cost, design specs, and a photo tip sheet, visit the Anchor Ball website. Please know a staff of volunteers will gladly prepare your ad for you!
