Greetings from the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute, an initiative focused on building the capacity of our nation's child welfare workforce and improving outcomes for children and families through activities that support the development of skilled child welfare leaders.
Since 2008, with the generous support of the Children's Bureau (ACF/DHHS), and the hard work of our 10 project partners - University at Albany/SUNY, University of Denver, Fordham University, University of Iowa, University of Maryland, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Portland State University, University of Southern Maine, and the National Indian Child Welfare Association - the NCWWI has been a ground-breaking opportunity to raise the visibility of the value of the child welfare workforce, provide resources and support for the development of child welfare leadership skills, and learn more about what really makes a difference.

You and your colleagues - talented and dedicated child welfare leaders, managers, supervisors and other professionals  across the country - told us you didn't have time to search the Internet for useful resources, read long reports about what we do, or comb our website to find out how we can help.  We heard the message that you wanted to learn more about our work and how we are helping to strengthen and support child welfare workforce and leadership, but that you needed to receive it in short summaries and bullets delivered directly to your email inbox.  So we've designed our e-updates to give you just that - targeted, timely news and information about our work and the resources and events we've organized and developed to support your leadership in this field.

In this first e-update, we invite you to learn more about each of our seven different project teams, as you read brief letters they wrote about what their team does, how their work benefits and strengthens the field, and what's on the horizon that might interest and inspire you.

We look forward to connecting with you and your colleagues in the coming months and years.

With warm regards,

Nancy Dickinson, Project Director; (410) 706-3740, [email protected]
