| A Note from Arvid Loewen | |
My name is Arvid Loewen. I am one of the directors of Mully Children's Family Charitable Foundation (MCFCF). A number of years ago I felt God calling me to be an ambassador for the children rescued by the Mulli family and their staff. When God called me to this, He also gave me a deep love for kids I will never know or see. I can't explain it. He also made it very clear to me that saving the life of a child does not require being a hero. It simply requires you to respond to the prompting in your heart to do what is right.
Charles Mulli was called to be the Father to the Fatherless, but he can't do it alone. God is blessing his work in incredible ways. Entrepreneurial, agricultural, and business initiatives allow Mully Children's Family to reach levels of up to 45% self-sufficiency, presently raising 2,150 children. Another 6,000 have gone through the organization, been equipped with life skills, and have become contributing members of society. Other African countries are asking Charless Mulli to train them in the model of MCF. Kaleli (a biological Mulli son) and five MCF graduates are currently doing that in Swaziland. Rehabilitation of an abandoned child is no longer just a dream for Africa; at MCF it is happening daily.
Even though MCF grows a lot of their own food, they still require $100.00 per child per year. This money pays for a large portion of the food MCF cannot grow themselves, depending on current economic circumstances. For the past three years, I have helped out with a "food drive," raising funds specifically to buy the food they cannot grow themselves. This year's event is called Hot Pursuit 2010. It is also a public platform for multiple charities. I am raising money for MCF. In brief, I am the "fox" in a British style fox hunt.
On July 17th I will leave White Rock, BC for Winnipeg on bike. A relay team from Canadian Mennonite University (professors and alumni) will leave 24 hours later, chasing after me. Three hours after that, a relay team of four Winnipeg Police officers will begin their chase as well. There will be two separate pots from event sponsors waiting at the Legislative building in Winnipeg, to be split 60/40 (for the respective charities) based on who gets there first. The "Gogos", a team of Grannies, will be relaying from Calgary to Winnipeg as well, raising funds for MCF. Events like this help me in creating new awareness about MCF.
As I have gotten to know Charles Mulli and MCF, I have learned to appreciate the deeper meaning of the phrase: "A life of giving is a life worth living." I invite you to help me buy food for these 2,150 children for one year.
Please make cheque payable to 'MCFCF' and put "Hot Pursuit" in the memo line; or make a secure Online Donation Now through Canada Helps.
Thank you,
Arvid

Founder & CEO, MCF |

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to a long-term serving partner and personal friend as well as a friend to MCF, Mr. Arvid Loewen. Arvid is an ordinary man who has done extraordinary things. Over the last 7 years he has committed himself in serving and working to raise funds for MCF through various means, especially riding a bicycle for more miles than we can ever imagine.
Arvid organized and was involved in Spoke 2005: The Canadian Safari, where he rode across Canada and transported three of our children to raise awareness and funds for MCF. He also did Race Across America (RAAM) in 2008, not forgetting the 457 km/day for 23 consecutive days called Tour for Life in 2009. This year, Arvid is organizing yet another event, Hot Pursuit 2010, which is raising funds for the MCF feeding program.
I would like to request that all of the MCF friends and supporters across the world as well as any interested persons join Arvid and support his efforts which will change and give life and hope to thousands of needy children in Africa. We all cannot ride the bicycle like Arvid does, but we can support him to achieve the goals that he has set. Together, we can all make a change in Africa by giving hope for a brighter future to all of the children who are the basis of our tomorrow.

| More About Arvid Loewen |
I have been an athlete all my life and an ultra-marathon cyclist for the past 15 years.
Then in 2005 God provided me with a purpose: the children rescued by Charles Mulli, his family, and staff. In 2006, I resigned from my senior management position with Palliser Furniture, and have dedicated my time and efforts to helping Charles Mulli in the ministry of MCF. In my personal struggle with God, I argued that I was not ready financially to do this. Then I was reminded of the parable in the Bible where God took the five loaves and two fish and fed the multitudes. My RRSPs were my loaves of bread, and my legs (my ability to ride a bike) were my fish. When I finally surrendered them to the cause God had placed on my heart, He gave me peace.
In 1994 I decided to go on a 40 km bike ride. After 30 km I called my wife Ruth to come and pick me up. I could not make it home. A commitment to do my best has allowed me to develop my abilities. The highlight of my cycling career is my successful participation in Race Across America (RAAM) 2008. It is recognized as the world's toughest bike race. In ultramarathon cycling, the desired outcome is always in doubt. It has become my platform from which to share my passion to help orphaned and abandoned children.
