Coast Explodes with Blue Whales, Humpbacks, Megapods, Mola molas and More!

August 2012

Pair of Blue Whales
VERY CLOSE ENCOUNTERS!
Greetings!

The coast off Dana Point has exploded this week with more, more, more whales!  In the last ten days we have seen over 60 whales...blue whales and fin whales and of course, dolphins, dolphins and more dolphins!

On Thursday we had Gayle Anderson with KTLA/Channel 5 with us for a live broadcast and I am very thankful to report that the weather was gorgeous, dolphins were waiting for us right outside the harbor entrance, and one of our favorite summertime resident blue whales, Notcho, came over for an amazing close encounter.  Three other summer visitors, Kinko, Spike and Bubbles have also been hanging out, enjoying the abundant krill.  Here is a recent video clip of Kinko!

Hope to see you out there!
