$400,000 Invested to Improve Patient and Employee Safety
This month EmergyCare put into service thirty-two Stryker Power-PRO XT stretchers and thirty Stryker Stair-PRO 6252 tracked stair chairs. This state-of-the-art equipment is intended to improve patient safety and reduce the risk of injury to both the patient and crews.

Training sessions were held for all direct care staff and the stretchers and stair chairs are now being used in ambulances across our seven county service area.
The new power stretchers feature an innovative hydraulic system that raises and lowers patients at the touch of a button. The previous manual stretchers required lifting that resulted in quick, unsteady movements that caused anxiety and a greater chance of injury to the patient.
The Stair-PRO provides a safe way to maneuver patients in tight quarters or up and down stairs. It effortlessly glides down stairs without requiring lifting by the crews and the patients are tilted back in a safe position.
In regards to the new purchase, executive director Bill Hagerty states, "EmergyCare is extremely lucky to have a supportive board of directors and hundreds of community members who make donations each year. This charitable support makes it possible for us to purchase equipment that improves our level of service and safety. The new stretchers and chairs will reduce the incidence of employee back injury, allow us to get people from their homes and to the hospital faster and reduce the need to call additional manpower to help move patients."
