Prayer Line
At Pope John, our school community lifts each other up in prayer during times of need. If you have a prayer request, or to join the prayer line, please email pj23prays@yahoo.com.
New student orientation will be held Monday, August 13, all students will need to be present during their grade level's session of Lion Pride Day on August 14, and school begins August 15 with a Mass Day to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. All students will be expected to be in Mass dress for the first day.

We have a new policy for the 2012-2013 school year to help make our school safer - all guests will be required to sign in at the front desk and receive a visitor's badge. Guests without badges will be escorted to the front office before being allowed to finish their business at the school. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us make a secure campus for our students to learn!

Below are your announcements for the week of August 13, 2012.

1. Early Dismissal for August 15-17

Due to air conditioning problems, we will have early dismissal for students next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (August 15-17).  Students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon; however, the school will remain open if students need a place to wait for their ride.

2. Student Parking Permits
A notice about parking permits for the 2012-2013 school year.  Students may begin to pick up parking registration forms from Mrs. Hoth in the front office.  All information on the vehicle registration forms must be filled out before parking permits may be issued.  Student parking is $150.  Students must provide a valid driver's license (photo id) and a copy of insurance coverage.  No specific parking spots by number will be issued.  Students may park in any area on the west side of the building or on the east side of the new gym as long as they have a parking permit on  their vehicles.   Those spots designated for staff (west parking lot) and the parking spots in the circle in front of the building are off limits for student parking.
3. 2012-2013 Tuition
Tuition must be paid or you must sign up for FACTS prior to beginning classes.  Also, any prior year outstanding balances must be paid.  Please see our accountant, Rosemary Ghelardi, if you have any questions.
4. Family Commitment Opportunities
We are once again selling advertisements in our student directory and also adding advertisements in the fall sports program. Both of these ad sales count 100% towards your family commitment requirements, so make sure to solicit your favorite businesses or add in an ad of your own to help with your family commitment for the 2012-2013 school year!

The forms for both the student directory and the fall sports program can be found on the school's website. The deadlines are coming up soon (Wednesday, August 22 and Friday, September 7, respectively), so make sure you don't miss this opportunity!
5. Sports Program Kudos
We will be selling kudos in the fall sports program for anyone who wants to show their support for their favorite athlete, cheerleader, or band member! Kudos are available in quarter, half, and full page sizes. Kudos are due to Gillian Kruse in the Advancement Office by Friday, September 7.

Senior year is an exciting time for students and PJ23 has a number of traditions that highlight the uniqueness of being a Senior Lion.    There are several activities scheduled throughout the year both for our seniors and to raise funds for end-of-year activities.   Fundraising is primarily to offset the cost of prom and to have a Senior Fun Day after senior finals.   Lots of volunteers are needed for these activities - parents and students.  Please read the attached descriptions and return your volunteer form as soon as possible.    Thank you in advance for all your support.
