As we approach the beginning of a new school year, we are also announcing that the rewrite of our school By-laws is now complete.
It is time to begin establishing a permanent Board of Directors for Pope John XXIII High School. At the current time, Msgr. Bill Young remains the Chairman of the Board of Directors. He has asked the rewrite committee to assist him in receiving nominations and advising him on the first five selections. [We must have five members of the Board to conduct business].
If you are interested in serving on the Board, we will be holding an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 1st at 7:30 PM in the new gym. At the close of this meeting, we will be accepting resumes of interested parties.
The first step you should take is to pray and ask our heavenly Father if this is something He is asking of you. A position on the Board is one of service. Ask yourself if you have a servant's heart and are willing to commit your time, talent, and treasures to the service of the school.
The Board of Directors' work is to help ensure the success of the school. You will, if asked, assist in establishing the policies by which the school functions. School polices concern financial matters, building and grounds advice, and advancement. Each year the Board establishes a budget and monitors compliance. The Board establishes various committees to aid in supporting the mission of the school. You will be expected to help on at least one committee. In addition, you must be able to maintain confidence on Board matters and agree to be active in attendance and energy.
A major function of Board members is diligently working to ensure the financial strength of Pope John XXIII. You will be asked to support enthusiastically the financial programs such as the Capital Campaign, Annual Fund, etc.
We look forward to seeing you on August 1st.
Below are your announcements for the week of May 21, 2012. |
