Greetings!
Our reception last week with Mr. Petersen about the school's future had so much interest that we are planning to host another presentation. The second event for parents to learn about the future of Pope John and where the school is headed will be Thursday, November 11 at Hasta La Pasta (1450 Grand Parkway, Suite E) at 6:30 pm. Mr. Petersen will be presenting plans for the next few years for all interested parents. Space is limited, so please reserve your places with Gillian Kruse.

1. Mass of Blessed John XXIII
On Thursday, November 4 at 7:15 a.m. in our Chapel, Fr. Charles Van Vliet, F.S.S.P.of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (http://fssp.com/press/) will offer Mass in the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite (the so-called "Tridentine" Mass, Usus Antiquor or the "Traditional Latin" Mass).
All faculty, parents, and students are welcome to attend this celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This form of the Liturgy is celebrated according the revisions made by our own patron in 1962, so it is more accurately the Mass of Blessed John XXIII. Missals will be provided to help facilitate active participation in Mass. If you have any questions, please e-mail Mr. Millare at rmillare@pj23.org.
On July 7 2007, Pope Benedict XVI wrote in Summorum Pontificum:
"Nonetheless, the Roman Missal promulgated by St. Pius V and reissued by Blessed John XXIII is to be considered as an extraordinary expression of that same 'Lex orandi,' and must be given due honour for its venerable and ancient usage. These two expressions of the Church's Lex orandi [Law of prayer] will in no any way lead to a division in the Church's 'Lex credendi' (Law of belief). They are, in fact two usages of the one Roman rite. It is, therefore, permissible to celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass following the typical edition of the Roman Missal promulgated by Blessed John XXIII in 1962 and never abrogated, as an extraordinary form of the Liturgy of the Church."
