It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is already upon us. I would like to commend each of our teachers, administrators, and staff members for their hard work and dedication to our students.
This past year has included many exceptional accomplishments. On Monday, June 14th, I will be hosting an event for the community, which will include highlights from this current school year and provide an opportunity to share information on issues of educational importance. Topics will include: student academic progress, new state curriculum requirements for the upcoming school year, the District's Attendance Campaign, and the 2010-2011 Budget.
This Monday's event will be held in the Martin County High School Cafeteria beginning at 6 P.M. I look forward to having this time to meet and speak with members of the public, including any District employees, that would like to attend. I believe it is important to keep our community up to date on the issues that impact our schools.
FCAT Results Delayed
As you are aware, we are still awaiting FCAT results for grades four through eleven. The Florida Department of Education has informed all school districts in the state that these results are being delayed until at least the end of June.
According to the Department of Education, the hold-up is due to issues with the company contracted to administer the test. However, we have been assured that the results will be reliable and accurate, and that the issues are not related to the scoring process. Once the Department of Education provides districts and schools with individual student results, we will get them to families as quickly as possible.
Once again, thank you for your committment to our students. Have a happy, safe, and healthy summer break.
Sincerely,
Nancy Kline
Superintendent
Martin County School District
