MORE ABOUT KETOSIS

How to Check for Ketosis

Check for Ketones by catching your first morning urine on the end of the ketone test strip.  There is a special chemical on the strip that will turn pink to purple in the presence of ketones which means you are in ketosis and your body is metabolizing fat.  The chemical on the strip is sensitive to moisture so make sure to keep the lid of the container closed at all times.  They also have a shelf life of 6 months after opened, so write the date on the container after opening.

What are Ketones?

Ketones are molecules that are a bi-product of fat metabolism.  Your body can function just as well off ketones instead of glucose.   In fact the heart, kidney and brain prefer to run off of ketones instead of glucose.  So while in ketosis people may notice an improvement in energy and that they think a little more clearly.  Normal ketosis will also stabilize blood sugar and help prevent breakdown of healthy muscle tissue.

Ketostix Tips

Over time the ketostix may show trace or negative as your body becomes accustomed to the high protein hcG diet.  This can be normal adjustment, and as long as your hunger remains low and weight loss continues this is fine.  Also note that ketones spill into the urine only when there is excess in the blood, so during exercise or drinking high amounts of water they can become trace or negative.

Dark purple on the ketostix does not mean you will lose weight any faster.  Often it may be an indication of dehydration.
For dehydration and for our Slimxpress Weight Loss Program, we suggest Energx Water!
