Greetings!

Good Monday Morning!

As we gear up for Spring 2012, we've got a lot planned.  One of the things on our calendar is a tourism trade show in Houston next week.  We went this past year and our visit resulted in over 20 tour groups coming to town.  These folks visited the Oil Museum and Zedler Mill.  They shopped at local retailers and ate in local restaurants.  We're hoping to double the number of tour groups in 2012.

We're to plan for attendance of about 750 at the Houston trade show.  We take lots of brochures on Luling attractions, events and businesses.  We'd love to take more info on your business!  If you have any marketing materials (rack cards, menus, pens, koozies...) we'd be glad to take it with us.  If you have something you'd like us to include, please get it to us by this Friday.

Have a great week!

Ada

Cash Mob Thursday!

Cleveland Ohio, San Diego California, Rochester New York, Fort Lauderdale Florida, Chicago Illinois and now... Luling Texas!

Cash Mobs are happening all over the country, and we've got one planned for Thursday, February 2nd.

We've got a "Cash Mob" scheduled this Thursday, right here in
Luling.  A "Cash Mob" is similar to a "Flash Mob", with an economic stimulus component and no dancing required.

Bring $20 to the Oil Museum (421 East Davis) Thursday, February 2nd at 5:45pm.  At 6:00pm we'll announce the shopping destination.  Then we'll head out to one of our HomeGrown Luling retailers and each buy $20 of merchandise.

We can each do a little.  We can all do a lot.

Tell Your Retail Story - and Win Big!
Retail Shopping Bags

Retail careers are as varied as the tens of millions of people in our industry. From marketing gurus creating the best holiday ads to tech geniuses designing the latest "must-have" items and small business owners who are at the heart of their local communities, the opportunities in retail are endless.

And, retail supports one in four jobs in the U.S. In other words, we've got quite a few stories to tell.

That's where you come in. We're looking for the most creative, insightful and thought-provoking retail stories in America that will demonstrate the opportunities in and the power of our industry. So find a video camera (or partner with a videographer), gather some inspiration, and tell us why "This is Retail". You could win $25,000.

San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo Ambassadors Luncheon
SA Rodeo check to LISD Ag Dept

The Luling Chamber of Commerce hosted the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo Ambassadors for a BBQ luncheon last Friday. They presented Colby Doherty, Luling

Great BBQ was provided for the luncheon by Luling Bar-B-Q. Chamber board members Travis Davis, Albert Martinez, Bill McNeal, Nikki Maxwell & Karen Bell were on hand to help with the luncheon.  The City of Luling had its own ambassadors to greet folks: Mayor Mike Hendricks, Martha Velasquez, Jessica Tucker, Randy Engleke, John Bell and John Wells.  Also attending were Mark Puig - Luling ISD Superintendent, Carol Voigt - Luling Oil Museum Director, and Bonnie Dredla - Luling Foundation Farm Office Manager.
