ANZA Announces March Madness
ANZA will be in Australia for the month of March. If you're thinking about taking your business to the next level and competing on the global court, then March is an excellent time to meet with us to find out how you can up your game. While in Melbourne from 29 February through 15 March, there will be several opportunities for Victorian companies to find out more about ANZA and our Victorian Fast Track program. On March 9, ANZA will speak at an AIIA Exporter Club event in Melbourne for ICT companies interested in the US market. See our Upcoming Events section below for other events ANZA will be attending, like the Churchill Club and the Australian Angels Investor Conference.
I'm also pleased to announce that Jon Baer, one of ANZA's most sought-after mentors, will be joining me in Melbourne the week of 5 March. You can get to know a little bit more about Jon by reading some of his recent guest blog posts on Business Matching and Investor Pitching. Jon's extensive career in Silicon Valley has involved both sides of the Valley spectrum - VC investment and running startups. THE ART OF THE PITCH: FIVE MINUTES OF FAME OR THIRTY MINUTES OF HELL?
ANZA mentor Jon Baer will be in Melbourne 5-9 March. Jon is one of ANZA's most sought-after mentors and he occasionally guest blogs for us. Here is some fresh insight into the art of the pitch for potential investors and customers.
Mark Twain once wrote that he would have made his story shorter if he had more time. If his audience was potential customers or investors he would have certainly have had to make the time if he wanted his pitch heard.
If Mark Twain was still tossing off memorable quotes, he'd probably have one about Americans and our short attention spans. In a country of more than 300 million people and nonstop opportunity, we need to get our information quickly, clearly and be able to understand why it is important. This can clash with a foreign entrepreneur who is passionate about his or her technology or product and why it is so wonderful. Many entrepreneurs new to the American way of doing business have complained about this. Americans are not going to change, and no one should expect them to on their own turf. Instead, I offer a few helpful tips: Think about who you are presenting to and what is important to them. Make sure you understand who they are, and what they can or cannot do (decide, recommend, fund) before you meet. (Read more) _____________
