January 2011
CMT United Kingdom E-ComMenT

Greetings!

Welcome to our first e-newsletter of the new year - and new decade, even!  I'm glad to see that so many of you were on the ball, and spotted the deliberate mistake in the last one......!!!!  Talk about being confused between years - what year is it now, 2012, 13 - I dunno!!!   I'm confused.com!

I hope everyone had the Christmas and New Year that they wanted, needed and that Father Christmas was generous!  From all the Trustees, we do wish you the best of prosperity for 2011.

International Convention
Hilton Coventry
15th-17th April 2011
We are still labelling envelopes, and printing the paperwork for all our worth - hopefully, we'll start posting out the booking forms in the next week or two, and have them all gone before the end of January.  We did intend starting much sooner, but things never seem to go quite to plan.  In the meantime, you can still download booking forms from the website - under Annual Conference in the members area.
Margaret Read, MBE

For those of you who've been members for a long while, you'll all remember Margaret Read, who was the Secretary of this organisation from it's registration as a charity in 1988 to her retirement in 2002 - I regret to have to tell you that she died suddenly on December 29th.  Even since her retirement, she was always involved with various issues for us, particularly with regards to the Welsh government, and making sure that CMT was not lost in the shuffle, when it came to provision of services for people with neurological diseases in Wales.  She was the kind of person who was never happy unless she was on the committee of something, and was involved in lots of charities in her community.

She will be missed by everyone, but especially by her husband Don.  If you would like to send a note or letter to Don, please send them c/o me at the usual address.
More sad news

And in what has been not a good Christmas for some of us, Lisa Welsh (our Chair) lost her husband on Christmas Eve, very suddenly to pneumonia.  Many of you will have met John at our Conferences - he was the bloke at the front struggling to get the laptop and projector to talk to each other, usually!  Again, our thoughts and condolences go to Lisa, who is being very focussed and staying strong.   She has asked me to set up a Justgiving page in memory of John, although she's not certain yet what we'll be using the funds for - if you would like to contribute you can find it at www.justgiving.com/John-Welsh2010

ComMenT

We apologise for the late delivery of ComMenT - due to circumstances beyond our control (like snow!) but it's with you now.  If you usually get your copy via the website, the electronic copy is now on the website at http://www.cmt.org.uk/ComMenT_Archive.php - don't forget you'll need to log in to access it.  We sent a survey with the magazine, and you can complete it online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/CMTFeedback.  We'd like all your feedback by the end of January, so we can consider your comments at the next Trustee meeting in February.

Family Conference

Once the International Convention is over, we're seriously considering applying for specific funding to pay for a Family Conference in the Autumn.... especially for families with children under 12, who normally aren't able to benefit from our Young People's Weekend.  But in order to know if we are on the right track, and to help with making the best possible application for funding, we need to know that there is a need for this event.  I'm sorry to burden you with yet another survey, but this is a really quick, one page one... after all, there's no point in our planning an event if no one wants to attend one!

So, ONLY if you have kids in the age range, please can you complete this survey:

Thank you.
