The 99th Michigan District Convention - "Celebrate Jesus"
Sunday, June 28 - Wednesday, July 1
The 99th Michigan District Convention will convene on Sunday, June 28, 2009 under the theme, "Celebrate
Jesus." The logo, designed by Jenna Szpara ('08), captures the spirit of St.
Paul's letter to the Philippians, wherein chapter 2 we find these
words:
"Therefore God has exalted him to the highest place and gave him the
name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every
tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father." Philippians 2:9-11.

Sean P. Harlow and CWEF in China
Sean P. Harlow ('97) is currently working with Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation. His latest newsletter detailed one of the projects that CWEF is looking to implement in the Sichuan Province, particularly in the Earthquake region of Nan Ba, which is the Health Kit Training Program.
"This program is specifically designed for Parents/teachers and students to learn about the importance of a healthy body both inside and out. This is especially important in country side areas where common resources that we as Americans are used to having are not as available. These include things like: hot water, washing machines, consistent hand washing and showering etc. I found out at training in Su Jia the mountain region of Southern Yunnan that it is not uncommon for children to go over a month without a shower - Sometimes more. The students were very eager to learn and did an amazing job of participating and giving verbal and group reports."
His latest update letter is available for download here.
