There were 25 students in attendance with participants from: Florida, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Charlotte and of course Greensboro, Oak Ridge and Stoney Creek!

Wing Chun Kuen is a Chinese martial art with an emphasis on short and mid-range striking, trapping, jamming and off balancing techniques.  It's forms are fluid with both fast and slow movements. The style was made poplular when it was discovered that it was the original art that Bruce Lee learned in China under the famous Sifu - Yip (Ip) Man.  Legend has it that Wing Chun was developed by a Chinese woman who had to fight to free herself from an arranged marriage.

GLOW CHUCK SEMINAR
School Logo-TMThis event happened on Friday, Feb 20th at our Oak Ridge academy with 20 participants.  The event also happened at the Stoney Creek academy on Saturday,  Feb 21st with a dozen participants.  That same night the Greensboro academy had 30 participants.

The event really rocked with students engaging in both single and double "nun-chuck" techniques.  Also several members brought friends with them that were not martial artist but still left with a wealth of knowledge.

The feedback was so good on this event that a "glow lighted saber" seminar became scheduled for July, 2009.

The first of the Essential Martial Arts Taekwon-Do Instructional DVD's are released.

 DVD emblem
Master Hendrix and Mr. Gasperson put their nose to the Grind Stone and Completed the DVD instructional videos for our Taekwon-Do curriculum.  The DVD's were release for the color belt testings in February.

Now when Taekwon-Do students promote at Essential Martial Arts they will receive their: New belt, Certificate, Detailed Instructional training guidelines for their new belt and an Instructional DVD to help them review their upcoming material filmed in a private lesson format with Master Hendrix.  Master Hendrix is very clear that the DVD's are not designed to "teach" the student the material but rather give them a vehicle to preview and review their new material thereby helping them to maximize their time in class.
January starts off with the return of a familiar face and many new projects are launched.
Essential Martial Arts was fortunate enough to bring Mr. Jesse Gasperson back on board as a full time Program's Coordinator.
