Proper Hydration
Hydrating during the summer is especially important. Our bodies are made up of 70% water and it is our life force. It is recommended to drink 8 glasses of water per day. Another formula is this: take you body weight in pounds and half it - that is the amount of ounces of water you should consume daily. For example, if you weigh 140 pounds you should drink 70 oz. of water per day. Some people who have a hard time, or don't like, drinking large quantities of water have found that adding organic fruit juice (20-30%) to their water makes for a satisfying alternative. Your body reads this fruit juice and water mixture as food and the sugar content and fluid is distributed by the small intestines which hydrates your entire body nicely. Remember to hydrate - your body and skin will thank you! PS. Coffee does not count as fluid because it will de-hydrate you - herbal teas on the other hand are other great alternatives to water. Mix an herbal tea with ice and a splash of juice and you have a wonderful refreshing spritzer! |
