There is only one more step to adopt the County Budget for 2012. On Thursday, December 22nd, the Board of Legislators will consider overriding the County Executive's vetoes of several budget items directly affecting our young people. These include:

• Sensible subsidies to help low-income parents pay for child care.
• Community youth programs that provide positive opportunities and activities.
• Neighborhood Health Centers that provide a "medical home" for children and teens.

The Board of Legislators added these items to the budget because they recognized their benefits to the overall health of our communities. The County Executive's vetoes are short-sighted and, if upheld, may actually increase costs for County taxpayers. Please speak up to urge the Board of Legislators to maintain these vital community supports by overriding the County Executive's harmful vetoes.
