President & House Could Have US
Caught in a Twister
|
|
The president and congressional leaders are in special meetings this week working out a budget deal. On the negotiating table? Medicaid - A program that helps millions of children and low-income families receive health care and creates millions of jobs. In Westchester, one in four children (25%) under the age of 18 rely on Medicaid or other public insurance for their health care.
ACT NOW! Tell the president and congressional leadership to take Medicaid off the negotiating table: Cuts hurt our nation's health and economy.
Just how many jobs could be lost with funding cuts to Medicaid?
We have to stop this economic twister. The children and families who lose coverage will have more and more expensive health care needs down the road, and the families whose jobs are at stake lose even more - their employer-provided health care and their livelihoods. Cuts now cost more later, and leave even more of our nation's most vulnerable with no options.
Protecting Medicaid is not only the right thing to do for children but is important for the economy, too. In times likes these, we need more investment in both.
ACT NOW! Tell Congress that Medicaid cuts will make kids and the economy both sicker!
Be a voice for children!
