ADVOCACY ALERT!

Tell Federal Policymakers:

Stop the Downward Spiral

The White House has entered budget negotiations with congressional leaders, and Medicaid is at risk. This service not only provides coverage for low income children and families, but is vital to our economy.

Cutting Medicaid programs is the wrong thing to do. Cuts to health care will cause millions to lose coverage, making health costs rise nationwide. Cuts to these essential programs will also cost hundreds of thousands of jobs - harmful to families and to our government debt alike.

ACT NOW! Tell President Obama and congressional budget negotiators that it's wrong, and ultimately ineffective, to balance the budget by cutting Medicaid.

A just-released report by Families USA reveals just how harmful cuts to Medicaid would be for jobs. They report that with just a 5 percent reduction in Medicaid funding, the nation would lose more than 250,000 jobs. If the full House proposal on Medicaid cuts went into effect, a 33 percent reduction in funding, the nation loses more than 1.6 million jobs.

We have to stop this downward spiral - cutting health care funding now has dire affects for our entire economy. The children and families who lose health care will have more and more expensive health care needs down the road, and the families whose jobs are at stake lose even more - their job-provided health care and their livelihoods.

Act now, because these leaders are making deals right now that will affect our country for decades to come.
