Keep COUNTY Programs That Work

County Executive Rob Astorino has failed to spend the full funding for child care and youth development programs included in the legally adopted 2011 County budget.  In his State of the County Address last week, Astorino spoke movingly about his children, and noting that "The decisions made by the adults around them, and around all the other kids in Westchester... affect them".  We couldn't agree more, which is why we are so disappointed that this administration has continued to pursue policies that unfairly and unwisely seek to balance the County's budget on the backs of vulnerable children and youth, undermining the very future that they purport to safeguard.

ACT NOW!
Send an e-mail to Mr. Astorino telling him that County government needs to make decisions that nurture all Westchester's children, just as we do for our own.  Read and comment on the op-ed by Kathy Halas and WCA Executive Director, Cora Greenberg as it appeared in the 4/12/11 edition of The Journal News.

Keep NATIONAL Programs That Work

The FY2011 budget agreement will contain $38.5 billion in cuts, much of it to come from services to children and families.  But the stakes for the FY2012 budget are just as high. Budget Committee Chair Paul Ryan (R-WI) last week outlined a radical budget plan that would all but dismantle much of the key aid to our neediest families. In fact, two-thirds of the House Budget Committee plan will come at the expense of low-income children and families.
