'Tis the season of giving thanks, and
WCA is THANKFUL FOR... |
Nearly 500 messages sent by email to the Board of Legislators and County executive urging their support of services for children and families;
2000+ supporters who participated in rallies, budget hearings, committee presentations and public meetings; and
The 16 to 1 vote of the Board of Legislators restoring over $7 million in the County Budget for vital children and youth services.
Your Voices Were Heard!
Our collective efforts led to the restoration of the 4 priority children's items advocated for by WCA and its allies, including:
~ Child care subsidies, reduced parent share, and child care scholarships
~ Invest in Kids
~ Early Step Forward
~ Neighborhood health centers
We Are Almost There!
We thank everyone who helped secure these victories and encourage you to...
Contact your elected officials to tell them to keep children and youth in the final County budget.
This week CE Rob Astorino can exercise his line item veto, or next week he can veto the entire budget. He is expected to do one or the other. The Board needs 12 votes to override any veto.
Continue to have your voices heard until the 2011 County Budget is fully approved.
WCA looks forward to continuing to work with you to protect investments in essential children's services.
All of us at WCA wish you, your family, and friends a happy and healthy holiday season!! |
