ADVOCACY ALERT:
REMEMBER CHILDREN IN FEDERAL HEALTH REFORM
|
|
We've Come Too Far to Lose Ground Now!
The United States Senate is currently negotiating their
version of the Health Reform Bill. Please contact
New York's Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and urge them to support Senator
Robert Casey's (D-PA) amendment, which protects children in health reform.
Senator Casey last
week introduced an amendment to the Senate health bill (H.R. 3590) that ensures
children will not be left out of the debate on Capitol Hill. The amendment (#2790) would fund CHIP through 2019, make coverage more affordable for
children and families, simplify enrollment, and call for a study to examine
CHIP coverage and the benefits to best serve children after 2019.
We need
your help in ensuring that children become
a priority as the health reform debate continues to unfold in the Senate. The
House health reform bill ends the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
and will leave millions of children worse off by moving them to the new,
untested and more expensive health insurance exchange where families will end
up paying more for fewer benefits.
In New York, where we go beyond the basic requirements
for CHIP by providing insurance to children in families earning up to 400
percent of the Federal Poverty Level, the impact will be extremely
devastating.
Your calls and letters are
needed. If you are an individual who
cares about children and families and wants health care to better meet their
needs, then contact Senators Schumer and
Gillibrand today. Unsure of what to say? Try using this easy form from our national partner, Voices for America's Children.
