CELEBRATING 4TH OF JULY
Another holiday is here in which we, as Americans, celebrate
our freedoms.
Our Memorial Day letter paid tribute to those who serve in
the military to protect our freedoms. We may not agree with everything being
done, but we can still be thankful for those who are there putting their lives
on the line.
For the July 4th celebration, I would like to
talk more about freedoms and passions. We have the ability to consistently make
changes in our lives to accommodate new interests and priorities. We can change
jobs, set up new companies, move accross the country or the world, we can blog about what we love, we can start or
join meetup.com groups or clubs...the possibilities are endless.
In addition to the BioElectric Shield Company I also have a
business making jewelry, the name is Bold Bodacious Jewelry. I've been asked,
why bodacious? Bodacious is another word for freedom, freedom to express who
you are, freedom to say "Yes" to life, to passion, to living fully.
Choosing the freedom to live from your soul passions isn't
always comfortable or understood by those around you. It takes courage when you
step out of the box, and do something new or maybe even a little outrageous. The
business world is full of stories of incredible successes and failure of those
who had a vision and made it so. It's true, you might follow your heart and
crash memorably. But guess what, even that crash can leave you feeling more
fulfilled than if you'd spent your life wondering what if.
I have a good friend, I'll call Terri, who had a
dream to own a motor home and travel the country. Last year she found a bargain
on eBay and drove to Denver to pick up her new home. She made it an adventure
and traveled with a woman whose book she was editing. They'd never met before,
just talked on the phone. But they were both ready to say "yes" to taking an
adventure together.
And it was an adventure. This motor home looked okay at
first glance, it started and ran without incident in their short test run. So
Terri paid the man his money and off they went on a 3-day drive cross-country to
get back home. The first day was fairly uneventful and then Mother Nature
decided to join in the fun and poured buckets. Yep, those buckets poured right
into the motor home, none of the seams appeared to be sealed. They laughed and
bought umbrellas and tarps to keep themselves reasonably dry. By the time she
got home Terri was pretty certain she Didn't want to live in a motor home.
You'll love this next part.
She parked it where she was going to store it, and
when she went back the next day it was completely dead. Her mechanic deemed it
a monstrosity not worthy of putting enough money into it to get it running safely.
When Terri told her story, we were all commiserating over
her loss, and she stopped us. "Ladies, this wasn't a loss at all. I didn't pay
much money for this grand adventure and I learned something valuable. I don't
EVER want to live in a motor home! How cool is that? I no longer have this deep
longing do go off into the sunset with my home on wheels. That was worth every penny."
One of our grandest freedoms is the opportunity to choose to
find a new perspective and turn a disaster into a blessing.
Virginia and I were talking about this newsletter and she
found a great article by Bob Berkowitz about making a leap to live your dreams.
In this article he quotes many instances of people who had a
dream but felt trapped in their lives and unable to make that leap. What
strikes me so often is that a lot of people think they have to immediately stop
what they're doing for livelihood and jump feet first into a new life.
What if
you could find small ways of making your dream come true? Maybe, just maybe,
you'll find like Terri, that the dream isn't really what you wanted, or on the
other hand, you'll Know that it's what you're meant to do. With that new
certainty you'll have the juice behind you to find a way to "make it so". Sorry
I just had to quite Captain Picard from Star Trek. That phrase comes to mind
frequently when I'm jumping off the cliff into the unknown. Read more about
doing what you want in life below...
We've put together a collection of articles about freedom, passion and saying "Yes" to life.
Enjoy

Doing What You Want to do in Life -- What's Stopping You? |
Bob Berkowitz
I have this habit of asking people what they do for a living. More
often than not, they either hate their jobs or maybe they're just
bored. I then ask them, "Let's say I could wave a magic wand and give
you the perfect job, career or profession. What would you do?"
What's
interesting is that their secret gig usually isn't crazy, out of reach
or unrealistic. The accountant doesn't want to play next to Kobe Bryant.
The middle-aged lawyer has no eyes to be an astronaut. It's more like
they want to be writing a novel, painting, or be hosting a radio talk
show.
So, when I ask them, "What's stopping you?" it all begins. I
don't want to use the word "excuse" -- that makes it sounds like they're
lazy. That's hardly the case. More than likely they're afraid. And
that's what this post is about -- seeing if we can figure out what's
stopping us from doing and getting what we want. I always wondered what
it would be like for these people at the end of their lives, looking
back perhaps disappointed, maybe even angry that they didn't take a
chance.

Need More Inspiration? Oprah has a series of articles called "Dream It.
Do it." | By Martha Beck O, The Oprah Magazine | May 17, 2010 Step One: Cut out pictures of things
you love. Step Two: Paste them onto paper. Step Three: Realize your
life's ambition? Well...sort of. Martha Beck on the right way to use a
vision board. Since childhood, I've had a vivid recurring dream in which I can move
objects without touching them. When I awaken from the dream, I can't
believe it isn't true. For hours I'll glare at objects-starting with
cars or furniture, gradually lowering my sights to scraps of
Kleenex-incredulous that I can't move stuff with my mind. Except that now I can. A friend just gave me a gizmo called Mindflex, a game that includes a
magnificently dorky-looking headset, a console, and a little foam ball.
The headset transmits your brain's electrical activity to a fan in the
console that blows the ball into the air. By thinking different
thoughts, you control the fan, and thus the altitude of the ball. The fact that this works delights but doesn't surprise me. The
discoveries of physicist Werner Heisenberg, not to mention my recurring
dream, long ago convinced me that the mind influences physical matter.
If Heisenberg's work is unfamiliar, let me translate the theory into
Californian: "Consciousness can shape reality." |
Going from Baby Steps to Giant Leaps.
|
In Oprah's June 2010 Issue she has some great articles on ways to live your passion, and stories about amazing woman who have done just that.
I was able to find the Vision Board article online so it was easy to link to it. But, sadly not everything is online.
What I love is that it gives you some small steps you can
take to experience at least a taste of your dream, and you can do them without
turning your life upside down. Then if that works out, maybe a giant leap is
next. Dream it, Do it
Here are some of the suggestions in this inspirational article.

Reveal
Exactly What You Need to Do to Set Your Life on Fire
| The 7 Questions in the Passion Test
Will Reveal Exactly What You Need
to Do to Set Your Life on Fire
and Open Your Heart to the
Gifts that Are Waiting for You"
Co-founders of the online magazine Healthy Wealthy 'n' Wise,
husband and wife team Bray and Attwood have produced a self-help guide with a
simple test at its core, requiring readers to list and prioritize their goals,
wants and desires, weeding and striking until they have just five
"passions" listed; those are then held against one's life to
determine how close one is to each (readers are encouraged to retake the test
every six months).
A full life steeped in passion is achievable, the authors
assert, through the application of three concepts: intention, attention and
"no tension." In part one, these concepts are explored in depth,
along with seven steps for "Living Life Aligned with Passion"; part
two puts these ideas into action.
Throughout, the text is peppered with
anecdotes, theories and analysis from experts and colleagues who have taken the
test and put it to use in their lives. There's nothing revolutionary about Bray
and Attwood's technique, but it's a simple (if not exactly
"effortless") approach to organizing and prioritizing that's both
practical and intuitive.

How To Do What You Love
| by Paul Graham
To
do something well you have to like it. That idea is not exactly
novel. We've got it down to four words: "Do what you love." But it's
not enough just to tell people that. Doing what you love is
complicated.
The very idea is foreign to what most of us learn as
kids. When I was a kid, it seemed as if work and fun were opposites
by definition. Life had two states: some of the time adults were making
you do things, and that was called work; the rest of the time you could
do what you wanted, and that was called playing. Occasionally the
things adults made you do were fun, just as, occasionally, playing
wasn't-for example, if you fell and hurt yourself. But except for these
few anomalous cases, work was pretty much defined as not-fun.

Recharge your Shield
|
Don't forget to recharge your shield.
Hang Shield in natural light either in a window, or
preferably, outside. (More info about recharging) We usually just keep it on the cord or chain, and loop it over a lawn
chair. This allows it to hang freely and absorb the energy from the sun. (Be sure you secure the loop by wrapping around something, then pull Shield through the loop, pull to make sure it can't come off)
IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE A SUNNY DAY for you to
recharge your Shield.
It's not the light that the shield needs; it's the energy vibration
from the sun that recharges the crystals. However, bright sunlight does
make it charge faster. So, if it's sunny, leave it out for 3 continuous
hours; if cloudy, for 6 continuous hours. If you are hanging it in a
window that blocks certain parts of the light spectrum, leave it for 8
hours. DO
NOT LEAVE YOUR SHIELD OUT IN THE MOONLIGHT! The moon is reflected
energy from the sun, thus it pulls energy away from your Shield. If you
ever forget, hang your Shield out for twice as many hours as it was
left in the moonlight. To insure it is functioning at 100%, you can
send it in for recharging and repolishing. Our consultant examines each
Shield that is sent in to make sure it has received a full charge from
our crystal room.
Suggestion
for worry-free recharging: Recharge your Shield during the New Moon
(dark) phase. That way if you do forget and leave it out overnight,
there's no harm done, as there is no moonlight shining on it to drain
it. ROOM SHIELD NOTE: Your Room Shield is constantly recharging using the ambient light in the room. Unless you have it in a completely windowless room, you don't need to recharge your Room Shield. If you haven't charged your Shield regularly for more than two years, you may want to get it recharged by us in our Montana crystal charging circle.
POLISHING It's summer and silver and brass both tend to tarnish more when it's hot, humid and you're, well, sweaty. Sorry, just can't think of a better way to say it.
You can polish your silver chains and Shields with any commercial silver polish. Brass can be cleaned with Brass or other brass cleaners. Or you can order our treated polishing cloths - they do a great job, and no liquid mess. Order your polishing kit
NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING ON POLISHING KITS - If this is your only item, our system will charge you between $8&$9, (Our system just can't fathom that we can put them in an envelope and ship) Go ahead and select that option and to make up for the shipping overcharge we'll send you TWO polishing kits.

Do you sometimes find it difficult to be clear on what YOU want to do?
Do you feel it's hard to make a decision?
What if I told you, it may not be your fault?

When
you try to focus to do you tend to "hear" other people's voices telling you
what you can't do, or that they need you to do something else, or they're
afraid you'll fail? Sometimes we hear the voice of our parents - not their
actual voice, but a message we learned as children. Or it could be some value
we learned from a friend or a boss. Those are just a few of the possible ways
we can be influenced by other people in our lives.
OR if you are discussing a decision with a friend, they will offer you an
opinion. Normally they mean well. Sometimes they just want to protect you and
make sure you don't do something that you'll fail at. Other times they want or
need you to stay exactly as they are so their lives don't change.
