A Legend Retires Dick Donovan, TGS bus driver for 13 years, has announced his retirement. After driving two different bus routes, logging 160,000 miles, and transporting approximately 180,000 students, Dick is trading in his bus and steering wheel for his boat and fly fishing rod. He fondly remembers his time here and we will be saying goodbye to him officially on Friday at our final all school meeting! Please join us in wishing him the best of luck for a happy and healthy future. Steve Steve Lorenz Head of School

Floral Appeal From The Eighth Grade
| As the Persian Proverb would have it: "The world is a flower. Smell it, and then pass it on to others."
Just what we would love for any and all of you with blooming gardens to do on the morning of June 15, graduation day at TGS. Your floral offerings will be arrayed as profusely as possible and permissible all around the auditorium, so that no florid language need be spoken as part of that afternoon's celebration.
Please let us know via email (ohauert@aol.com) about your willingness and ability to provide the raw material for us eighth grade parents to express our inner florist as we put our mettle to the petal.
Thanks,
Doris and Francis Hauert |
LIBRARY NOTES
|
What a wonderful year this has been in our library. Thank you for your support in so many ways: shopping at the book fair, giving to the library birthday party, baking cupcakes, helping with the reading challenge, donating books, and most of all encouraging your children to read. A special thank you goes to our steadfast volunteers: Victoria Oxholm and Karen Shapiro. The library would be a far lesser place without parental support.
Bills for lost library books will be mailed next week, so please return those books to the library by Friday. Books (even ones you forgot to check out) turn up in surprising places...in desks, in backpacks, and under cushions.
Summer Reading Lists
Summer Reading lists and teacher notes explaining expectations for those entering grades 2-8 in the fall will be posted on our TGS website soon. Encourage your children to continue reading all summer. It's entertaining and helps students retain the skills they have acquired during the year.
And parents, what have you been reading? Contribute your recommendations to the TGS adult summer reading list! We promise no reports will be due in the fall. This is just for fun. Summer's a great time to read for pleasure or to learn something new, so all genres are welcome. Please send your suggestions along to me via email. And remember, children who see their parents read are more likely to value reading themselves.
Thanks for a great year, Ponnie

COMMUNITY NEWS |
The Worley-Reichman Family (Jay & Jane, parents of Ben in kindergarten) have reserved the lean-to cabin at the Pinnacle in Westminster, Vermont for the 4th of July, and are inviting families with children pre-K thru 2nd grade to hike and camp with them. View the fireworks around the area without the noise and crowds from atop the Pinnacle! We will hike 1 ½ miles to the cabin in the afternoon, camp overnight, and return to our vehicles in the morning after an early breakfast. First time overnight campers are welcomed! If you are a parent unable to camp, but would like your child to have this experience, we are willing to supervise a few kids. If you're interested, please contact Jane & Jay at 603-756-9685 or jreichman@earthlink.net . This is our 3rd. year doing this event...it's free and fun!
