FROM THE DESK OF THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear TGS Community,

We are proud and excited to announce the launch of the new Grammar School website. After several months of developing the new site, Phil Blood, Director of Admissions, Financial Aid and Marketing, announced the unveiling last Friday, March 16. The launch marks the conclusion of TGS's major marketing initiative this year. After many months of creative decision making and downloading of current and new information, we encourage families to browse and take an in depth look at the many aspects of the site. We are confident that when you use the site the experience will be intuitive, with a new ease of use and navigation.

As this site will always be a work in progress, future additions will include but not be limited to: a "family module" that will allow families to access attendance, the school directory, an online re-enrollment tool, and other school information that will be password protected. Our goal has been to make the site attractive and user friendly for prospective and current TGS families.

Thanks go to various faculty and staff for helping to transfer and submit information, to Joey Morgan, former parent who created our last website; to the new website design committee of Phil Blood, Tara Meinhard, Mary Heller Osgood, Pauline O'Brien, and Ray Hutchins; and to New SchoolYard, our web vendor from Providence, Rhode Island.

So please enjoy the New Grammar School website and let us know how you like it!

Re-Enrollment and Health Forms
Re-enrollment forms with deposit are due back to TGS by
Friday, March 30. The health forms are due back as soon as possible, preferably before the school year ends. If you anticipate having a problem meeting either of these due dates, please inform either Phil Blood, Director of Admissions or Sara Dunbar, Nurse Consultant.

Board of Trustees Meeting Schedule Change
In an effort to improve efficiency, The Grammar School Board of Trustees has decided to alter its meeting schedule. In the past trustees have met monthly at TGS, with the exception of July and August. With its new model, the Board of Trustees will now meet quarterly, including a yearly retreat.

In addition to allowing trustees to focus more of their time on completing committee work, this change will allow the Committee on Trustees to consider possible future board members from more distant regions.

Meeting dates will be included in the 2012-2013 TGS Calendar. Committees will continue to meet monthly.

The next Board of Trustees meeting will be at TGS on May 22, 2012 and will focus on The Grammar School budget for the academic year 2012-2013.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

ART NEWS
March is student art month. If you have not seen The Grammar School display at The Brook's Library it is up for another week. Also, three of our students made it into the high school art show at The Gallery Thru The Music behind Turn It Up, in Brattleboro. It is a great show and congratulations are in order for Rudi Gohl, Ellinore Todd-Long, and Isabel Rodriguez. These students each have photographs taken as part of our winter art electives program for seventh and eighth graders. Looking ahead we have a full show of all of the electives work at The Hooker-Dunham Gallery for the month of April. The opening is April 6 at 5:30 and will be part of Brattleboro Gallery Walk.

Please Contact William Chambers ASAP if you can help in any way.

SPORTS
Physical Skills Development Spring physical skills classes are as fickle as the weather in terms of footwear. Your child could be wearing skis, sneakers, or boots. Please make sure your child has outdoor shoes that can take mud, green grass, or maybe even some snow.

Spring After School Sports

Spring sports at TGS usually begin on or about the last week of April or first week of May, depending on the weather and field conditions. The Student Council and Mary Heller Osgood, After School Sports Coordinator, will conduct a survey of the student body to determine sports interests, and from this survey will put forth our spring sports offerings. In the past we have offered spring soccer skills building, lacrosse skills building, yoga, mountain biking, Girls on The Run, and more. Stay tuned.

If you are interested in coaching a spring sport, please let
Mary know.
