The Spirit of the Season-Truly Making a Difference For those of you who were able to participate in the Maasai Jewelry sale sponsored by Sarah Messenger and Paul Weber, I would like to thank you. You have made a difference in the lives of many children in Leyeyo's village in Tanzania. The money raised through your purchases has topped $1800. The woman of Longido will use this money to pay for the scholarships for secondary school for 12 children, as secondary school is not free. The money is distributed through an agency administered by our friend Dr. Steven. It is the LOOCIP (Longido Community Integrated Program) organization, www.loocip.org. Paul and Sarah would like to thank everyone who participated, and have notified me that the school year in Tanzania will begin in January. The Longido families are very excited that we are able to support 12 tuitions for the following students: Leah Leguya -3 years @ $200 a year, orphan Dorcas Musa - 3 years@ $200 a year, orphan and lame Lazaro John - 2 years @ $100 a year, lost all livestock to drought Tereno John - ditto, sister of Lazaro Moses Kimani -1 year @ $200, orphan Paolo Msongarelli - 2 years @ $100, son of destitute widow. (Paul and Sarah contributed 1 year) In the spring, the TGS student body will be participating and directly involved in a fundraising project to support the education of more children in Longido, Tanzania.
Many thanks from Sarah, Paul, and Steve Steve Lorenz Head of School |
