STROLLING OF THE HEIFERS PARADE
|
This Saturday, June 4th, is the 10th anniversary edition of the Strolling of the Heifers Parade, and all TGS students and families are welcome to parade. We will have a banner to carry and some things to give away to the crowd. K,1,and 2 have made art projects with which to march, and they will lead our team. If you have a TGS shirt - please wear it - and represent us.
The parade begins at 9:50 sharp from Flat Street, and ends at the front gate of the Retreat about 30-45 minutes later. Our muster location is on Frost Street (which becomes Flat Street) no later than 9:30. As you approach Frost Street a Parade Marshal will tell you where we are waiting. Parking will be a problem in that part of town - best to get nearby and walk, or drop your car where you can.
For more info visit www.Strollingoftheheifers.com If you know you are coming, or have any questions, please send Michael Hornsby an email mhornsby@brimstoneconsulting.com so that we are on the lookout for you. In addition to parading, TGS will have a booth on the Retreat grounds during the festivities that follow the parade. We will be handing out marketing material, trying to capture the interest of prospective families. In order to entice visitors we will be serving crepes - TGS' "signature food"! Parents - If you are interested in helping to staff our marketing booth, and are comfortable answering questions and representing the school, let Michael know. We are planning on four 60-minute shifts between 11 am and 3 pm. If you have a special interest in making and serving crepes, let Michael know that too. It should be a great event - and the weather looks good too! Come join us!

Graduation 2011 - Friday, June 10th
4:30 reception - 5:00 ceremony
I invite you, the TGS community, to join the Class of 2011, the 50th graduating class of The Grammar School, at their graduation ceremony on Friday, June 10th. This is a very special event that speaks volumes about The Grammar School community. The ceremony consists primarily of each student performing or speaking. Faculty or staff members of each graduate's choosing speak about each of the graduates individually. Also included during the ceremony are songs chosen and performed by the class.
Of course there will be some introductory remarks to the class and the awarding of the diplomas. The Seventh Grade Class and their parents will host a reception at 4:30 pm at the main entrance of the lower school with the graduation ceremony to follow at 5:00 in the theater. Each year the graduating class chooses a surprise way to be transported to the ceremony.
The Last Day of School - Friday, June 10th
Dismissal at 12:00 noon
The last day of school is a half day with a fun schedule of morning events for our students. Field Day activities, other classroom activities and a closing all school meeting bring to an end another wonderful school year. A schedule will be sent out in next week's Wednesday Notice.

ANNUAL PARENT SURVEY BY FRIDAY
|
The annual parent survey is your opportunity to give feedback that will help guide TGS in improving the quality of our educational programs.
Please fill out a curriculum survey for each child enrolled at The Grammar School by Friday, June 3rd. Also very important is the fact that when you complete and sign your survey, we will place you in a drawing for a basket of delicious baked goods.
To access the survey, go to Survey Monkey or paste this link into your browser: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CM8L8HP. If you prefer to fill out the survey on paper, please contact Tammy White at the school office.
Many thanks,
Wendy Brennan, Chair of the Survey Committee

Every child who attends TGS receives a silent scholarship, supported by the Annual Fund.
Our goal is to achieve 100% participation by all members of the school community - please donate today!

LIBRARY BOOKS NOW DUE
|
Believe it not, the school year is quickly coming to an end! Library overdue notices have been distributed, and while we do not charge fines, a reimbursement fee must be paid for all lost library books. For those of you not returning to TGS next year, please be aware that a lost library book or an unpaid fine may hinder the mailing of your final records to your new school.
So please, search for those books. Books (even ones you forgot to check out) turn up in the strangest places...in the car, in closets, under beds, even on bookshelves. Prompt return of your books helps your library.
Thanks, Ponnie

PUTNEY AT THE MOVIES! How about a movie house IN PUTNEY (with popcorn)?? Just imagine being able to drop your son or daughter at the movies IN PUTNEY! TGS parent Billy Straus is part of non-profit Next Stage Arts and starting in June (see the listing below), we are launching Next Stage Cinema to show feature and independent films on a regular basis on a BIG screen, right in the center of Putney. I am looking to assemble a group of adults and/or responsible kids who would like to help with this project, selecting films, plugging in the popcorn machine, running the projector, all making it so we have movies right here in town year round for kids, adults, and families without having to drive to Brat (or farther!!). This is not a huge time commitment as a lot of the legwork is already done, but it will be great asset for the community. We just need a group of folks committed to help make it fly. Please call 387-8500 or email: billystraus@gmail.com
