FROM THE DESK OF STEVE LORENZ

Head of School Email - News and Events

Yesterday I sent an all school email to the school community highlighting many important items relating to our school. I hope you have had time to open it. The email included information about: Our Fourth Grade teacher, Grandparents Day, The Annual Fund, The Math Program Committee, Enrollment and Admissions, Introduction of New Administrative Staff, Graduation, The 50th Celebration Party, and More. Please let me know if you did not receive it.

One of Our Many Talented Students - My Birthday Buddy

As most of you already know, and as I continue to find out on a daily basis, our students have many talents. They are musicians, athletes, actors, and more. In our midst we also have many talented and gifted readers and writers. Just this afternoon I was helping the student council audition several students for an upcoming variety show and was amazed at their abilities and performances.

As a gift to my birthday buddy, Garrett Weil, whose birthday is today, May 11th (as is mine), I would like to share with you a story he wrote and illustrated. The story, "Sammy Sends a Message," won first place in the third grade category in the 2011 NHPTV PBS "Kids Go! Writers Contest." (The link to the story will be up tonight or tomorrow morning.) Also find the text of his story and his illustrations hanging on the bulletin board outside my office door. Congratulations and Happy Birthday Garrett.

I invite any and all students (and their parents) to share with me their interests, talents, and accomplishments that we may not always be aware of here at TGS, and I will make sure they get into our newsletter or on our website.

Sincerely,

Steve

DEER TICK ADVICE FROM THE NURSE

Notes from the Nurse

It has been brought to my attention that the TICKs are back and have started to come home with our students. Please read the following exerpts from the CDC's website and the emedicinehealth website to help keep your children safe from tick bites this season. You can visit their websites for more information at http://www.cdc.gov/ticks/ and http://www.emedicinehealth.com/ticks/article_em.htm. Please try to avoid tick bites this spring! Please read the following advice from Sara: Preventing Tick Bites

SKIS!

There are still twenty or more sets of skis in the ski haus. Please take them home, so we can clean and reorganize the shed over the summer. If your skis are unmarked they will go to the ski skate sale next fall. It is especially important for the 8th grade kids to take theirs home before they become the prize possession of someone else. If you rented from TGS, please be sure to return skis to me. Thanks,

Deb Gray
