WORKDAY REMINDER!!!

Come One Come All!

Workday at The Grammar School is this Saturday, April 30th, from 9-noon with a BBQ to follow. Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chips, and beverages will be provided.

Please bring rakes, shovels, gardening tools, painting clothes, chainsaws, and weed whackers. A small wheelbarrow is also helpful. Make sure you clearly mark your tools so we can return any that may be left behind. There will be tasks for everyone, young and old, rain or shine, which will include gardening, raking, transplanting, pruning, and mulching. We have some painting as well. There are plenty of jobs for those who are comfortable with chainsawing and weed whacking.

This is a fun and productive morning, with results we can all take pride in. Thank you in advance and remember, many hands make light work.

ADOPT A CRANE

The fourth grade Fundraiser for the Japanese Red Cross ADOPT A CRANE goes through the end of April. Adopt cranes for $1.50 each or an entire crane family (five of them) for $5 and help them make their goal to make one thousand cranes. MOTHER NATURE'S CHILD

In case you hoped to see MOTHER NATURE'S CHILD and missed it recently on VT or NH public television, I just want to let you know about some free public screenings in your neighborhood. The subject matter may not be of interest to you personally but perhaps there's someone you know-- a parent, teacher, student, counselor, doctor or outdoor educator -- who'd enjoy learning more about nature's role in child development. If so, please pass on the following dates:

Thursday, May 5th at 7 p.m. screening/discussion at the Putney Library

Thursday, May 12th at 7 p.m. screening/discussion at NewsBank Conference Center, Chester, discussion followed by refreshments

Though definitely not in your neighborhood, there will also be a major screening event at Shelburne Farms on Wednesday, May 18th at 7 p.m. Several experts featured in the film will attend to lead individual discussion groups, followed by a reception. You may know people who'd like to travel to this one!

You can learn more about the film, see a trailer, and find the details for all these screenings -- and more -- on our website: http://www.mothernaturesmovie.com/category/events/month

Snow, flooding, flowers...isn't Mother Nature such a tease these days?

Sending warm wishes & wishes for warmth,

Camilla
