FROM THE DESK OF STEVE LORENZ

Dear Grammar School Community,

I am writing to inform you of the resignation and departure of Meg Lyons as our Director of Admission, Marketing, and Financial Aid. Meg has served TGS well for the past 18 months. When informed that the Director of Admission position would go to a full time position next year, she decided she did not want to work full time. Meg announced that her last day at TGS would be February 25th, so that she could begin to pursue other interests and opportunities. Meg and I met last Friday to transfer information and transition her position temporarily to the Head of School's office. Meg remains in contact with me as we continue the transition.

In two weeks, Marcia Leader will be rejoining the staff as the

Interim Director of Admission. Marcia, who was the Director of Admission at TGS for many years, has agreed to come out of retirement for the remainder of the school year. She will be supported by the administrative staff, trustees, and Head of School.

I would like to wish Meg much luck and best wishes in her future endeavors and thank her for her one and a half years of service to The Grammar School.

Steve

Thank You to Our Class Parents

I want to recognize and publicly thank this year's group for the important work they do in so many ways - much of it behind the scenes - to keep us connected to each other as a community. Whether organizing class picnics, chaperoning field trips, or collaborating with our teachers, their leadership benefits all of us at TGS.

Please join me in thanking our 2010-11 Class Parents:

Jane Worley and Jay Reichman (Preschool)

Michael Hornsby and Andy Rockefeller (First Grade)

Karen Shapiro (Second Grade)

Ann-Michele Andrews (Third Grade)

Joanne and Ithiel Fuller (Fourth Grade)

Alison Trowbridge and Colin Blazej (Fifth Grade)

Poppet Boswell (Sixth Grade)

Julie Hogan - (Seventh Grade)

Liz Olmsted and Lies Pasterkakmp (Eighth Grade)

Director of Development and

Director of Admission and Marketing Positions

As some of you may know, we have begun the search to fill these two full time positions for the 2011-2012 school year. Search committees have been formed and advertisements and listings placed. We are looking for applicants who have specific and relevant experience in each of these fields. If you know of anyone who may have the credentials and might be interested in applying, please direct them to our website to Employment Opportunities for a complete job description and directions for submitting an application.

BILL KOCH LEAGUE NEWS

Congratulations to our BKL Festival skiers! It was a great weekend. Everyone had fun, skied hard, and made the Putney Ski Club and the Southern Vermont coaches very proud. Well done! Full results and pics are available at:

We encourage everyone to come out to our end of the year Skiathon and potluck at Grafton Ponds this Sunday. (See flyer and pledge form.) Please help spread the word. This is a great chance to see your old skiing friends and meet new ones, ski a lot of k's on Grafton's nicely groomed trails, and share food and fun times. As if that weren't enough, it's also an opportunity to raise money for the less fortunate among us. Skiers can make donations directly and/or use the pledge form. All donations go to the Vermont Foodbank and Grafton Cares. There will be a raffle for ski-related prizes donated by the West Hill Shop!

Lunch will be potluck. We'll have an outdoor fire going, so bring hot dogs, sausages, marshmallows, or whatever else you'd like to skewer and roast.

Anyone who has been keeping track of Ski for Ks should send your stats to Tim Weed ASAP. We'll try to have medals at the Skiathon or shortly thereafter.

Hope to see you there!

PUTNEY SCHOOL Community Service - In order to raise money for Kurn Hattin Homes, Putney School students are hiring themselves out to work in the community on Saturday April 16.  They can clean up the gravel the plows left on lawns, paint barns, clean garages, clear land, move hay- whatever is needed to welcome the spring.  It may be hard to imagine spring will come, but we are confident!

Students can work for you, your neighbors, your business, or for non-profits you wish to support. You will pay $8 per hour, and all of your payment will go directly to Kurn Hattin. If interested, please complete and submit the form at this link (or call 387 6384) to reserve your work force.

Thanks!
