TGS is pleased to announce that Jaja Laughlin-Foster has taken over the helm of The Grammar School Summer Camps. After four years, William Chambers is stepping down, eager to spend more time with his family.
Jaja has a BFA from Otis/Parsons in Los Angeles. She has been a working artist in this area for more than twenty years. Among a long list of different endeavors, Jaja owned and ran Putney Bound, a retail store and bindery, taught bookbinding at the Putney Summer Program for nine years, and is a book and jewelry designer. You probably know her best as the Medieval Faire Maven and the mother of Lucie and Ethan Foster who are in TGS grades 7 & 5 respectively.
Jaja is fired up! Look out! She is determined to make this camp a multi-faceted, flexible, and parent-friendly program that will really engage kids from ages 4 to 14. While the program is still in development, she has already gotten commitments from some great teachers: Donald Saaf, Julia Zanes, Collin Leech, Jordan Renouf, Michelle Ratte, Chris Harlow, Art Costa, Cara Trezise, Jeanette Staley, Shana Frank, John Gurney, and Joan Peters. Courses will include: Mountain Biking, Skateboarding, Archery, Ropes Course, Wilderness Survival, Comic Book/Graphic Novel Creation, Silk Screening, Gourd Orchestra Class, Electrified Diddly-Bow Class, Environmental Sculpture Class, Studio Arts, Shadow Puppet and Animation, and Stop Motion Class, just to name a few.
The camp will run for three one-week segments from June 27 to July 15. Campers may attend the camp for any combination of weeks and may choose from three different daily schedules: from 9-1:30, 9-3:30, or 9-5:30 pm. The hope is that this will offer the best support possible for both parents and campers. Find out more at the TGS website under the summer camp tab. Please email questions to Jaja at tgssummercamp@hotmail.com.
Math Problem for All (from Kathy)
Suppose you have an unlimited supply of water, a 3-gallon jug without measurements marked, and a 5-gallon jug without measurements marked.
How can you measure out exactly 4 gallons?
VACATION WEEK READING
Please encourage your children to have books for the vacation week. Reading can be terrific entertainment for traveling and quiet times. We have lots of books in the library waiting for your children. Please stop by yourself for a great family read-aloud or something from our parenting shelf. Don't forget to visit your public library as well. Many public libraries have special free activities planned during the break, and you can find great books there!
Have a great break, Ponnie

Approximately 40 top jumpers from the United States and Europe - the biggest field Harris Hill has seen in years - will compete this year. The festival atmosphere of the event is led by fans of all ages. Concessions, a bonfire, and event souvenirs will all be on site.
