FROM THE DESK OF STEVE LORENZ
Medieval Faire - A Huge SuccessWow, The 22rd Medieval Faire was a record setting day and fun to boot. Over 1,300 visitors joined us for a spectacular day of knightings, processions, piņatas, games, food, potions, shields and swords, a raffle, dueling, rides of all kinds, ponies, dunkings, music, hauntings, face painting, crafts, fortune telling, books, costumes, the King and Queen, and much more. Each year I wonder if we will be able to make this happen and each year over 200 parents, students, faculty, staff, and community members make it happen through donations of time, energy, and goods. From planning stages and advertising, to the raising of the Medieval Village, to the day of the event, to the break down of the venue, people working together in harmony make this a TGS community and a regional happening of magnificent proportions. Looking out on the Gaming Glen at mid day is a wondrous sight that makes me realize that the teamwork, community building, joy on children's faces, and coming together as a school make this event successful beyond words and beyond money.Thank you very much to one and all!Conference Day - A Time to Meet with "All" Your Child's Teachers - October parent/teacher/student conferences are an important time to check in regarding your child's early school year progress. This is an opportunity to have conferences with multiple subject teachers and specialists. All teachers will be available and would welcome a conference including the art, music, foreign language, and library teachers as well as middle school subject teachers and homeroom teachers. Please call Tammy to make a conference appointment. If you cannot make this conference day, TGS teachers will make themselves available before and after the conference days. All School Putney Mountain Hike October 19thA 50th Anniversary Event and Celebration On Tuesday, October 19th we will try once again to take this long standing traditional hike. This year's hike will feature our usual singing and additional sharing of stories about long time TGS traditions and the many different ways many of us have been connected to TGS. Please join us for this event as we depart TGS at 11:15ish and return to school by 1:30ish. Steve Lorenz
Putney Food Shelf - The first and fourth grades are collecting non-perishable foods and toiletries during the month of October. As always, there is also a box outside the main office for donated goods. Thank you for your generous giving. Photo by Liz ~ from Shutterfly album "2010 Medieval Faire"
