TGS Parent Survey - 2009

The Evaluation Committee has worked to create a parent survey that is much shorter and easier to use than those in the past. This survey offers us an opportunity to help guide TGS toward a continually improving education for our children.  The annual survey provides the teachers, administration and the board of trustees of our school with important information.  To thank you for taking the time to complete the survey, your name will be placed in a drawing to win one of two baskets filled with wonderful homemade goodies prepared by the Survey Committee.

When filling out the survey, please check only one box for each question.  If you feel a question does not apply or you don't know, please write "N/A" or "DK" at the far right.  If you check disagree or strongly disagree, please provide an explanation in the space provided at the bottom of the section. Please fill out a curriculum survey for each child enrolled at TGS.   Giving us your name is optional but strongly encouraged.   The survey committee pledges confidentiality with only Steve Lorenz as Head of School and JoNell Hamilton as chair of the committee able to view names.  Without a name on the survey it is much harder for Steve to address any concerns you may have.  Also very important is the fact that without your name we cannot place you in the drawing for a basket of delicious baked goods.

Please complete the survey by May 24th.  You have three options for completing this survey.  You may click on the link below or copy it into your browser to access the survey.
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=UOJqft44v2qRH9C_2bFyRHPQ_3d_3d
Surveymonkey will take you through the survey.  Depending on how much you have to say the survey will take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.  When you are finished click done to submit your survey.

Second, you may fill out the electronic version sent by e-mail and return as an attachment to bjh@dartmouth.edu.

Third, you may fill out a paper survey by asking Tammy White for one.  Please note that paper surveys will not be automatically mailed out.  You must contact the office and ask Tammy to mail it to you.  Please return your completed paper survey to the office in a sealed envelope and clearly marked "Survey".

Remember, your survey must be returned by May 24th with your name on it to qualify for the drawing for an exceptionally tasty basket of baked goods and other foods.

Many thanks,

Survey Committee

'Til the Cows Come Home
, Friday, MAY 29th: -
Only 3 weeks until the Spring Auction at Alyson's Orchard. There is still time to make a donation and we would certainly appreciate it. A service you could provide? A gift certificate from one of your favorite businesses?
We have so far original art, photographic sessions, golf outings, a vacation home, ski tix, music, and lots of great donations from local businesses and TGS families and extended families. If you have already made a donation but have not yet delivered it, please be sure to do so by Friday, May 22 at the latest. Many families from the kindergarten class have offered to make desserts for the event. We could still use a few more bakers, so please let
us know if that is something you would be willing to do. We will be distributing the auction program a week prior to the auction so you will have a chance to bid on something if you cannot attend. We hope you can,
however, so please save the date: Friday, May 29 at Alyson's Orchard. Doors open and silent auction starts at 6:30 p.m. Thank you! Mark and Kathleen

THE FOURTH GRADE IS COLLECTING NON-PERISHABLE ITEMS FOR PUTNEY FAMILY SERVICES DURING THE MONTH OF MAY.   There is a box outside the main office or donated items can be brought to the fourth grade classroom. Thank you so much everyone for supporting this year -long community service. Linda

NEW TGS TRIFOLD BROCHURES - are here.  We are in the process of spreading the Grammar School "word" and we really need everyone's help!  If every family took 6 brochures and placed them in a "special" place we would be out in the community in about 80 different locations!!!  This would be very exciting.  Please consider picking  up a 1/2 dozen or so from my office OR I would be happy to send them home in your child's backpack.  We are looking to be displayed in doctor's offices, recreational facilities, places of business, preschool/daycare and any other sites you might think of where clients might pick them up.  JUST PICK ONE PLACE.  We have always told you that you are our best marketers and this definitely continues to be the case.  Thank you in advance for helping with this project!  Marcia

Come one, Come all!  Strolling of the Heifers Committee Asks Everyone to "Save the Date" A few cow-minded individuals have gotten together to plan for this year's Strolling of the Heifers parade in downtown Brattleboro.  We are asking that families in all grades save the date of June 6th for participation in the parade.  Come show your support for TGS!  We will make cool cow t-shirts to wear and plan to march with giant marionettes (dressed for the occasion, of cow-rse).  We need students (and parents) young and old!  We are also looking for someone to volunteer some sort of hay wagon (no motors) for the little ones to ride on if they tire out.  More people are also needed to plan and/or help with resources.  If you are willing to help and/or if you plan to march with us, please contact Ray Hutchins (parent of Lyle in K) or Darcy Gibney, Kindergarten teacher!
